Found a "Calloway Diablo" (Only markings on ball.)  golf ball.  What did Calloway replace it with?. And does the newer ball have the same playing characteristics?

On a serious note, you can Google the Callaway Diablo ball and view all of the ball's characteristics, predecessors and successors.

I believe the new version of Diablo balls are the new X2 Hot balls. They are pretty good I tried them and they play great. Distance is good, and they have decent spin on the greens also.

Here: http://www.callawaygolf.com/golf-balls/balls-2014-x2-hot.html

Driver: Callaway Big Bertha 10.5*

3WD:  Callaway Big Bertha 15* / X2 Hot H4 Hybrid
Irons:  Callaway Apex 4-PW Project X 5.5 shafts

Wedges: Callaway MackDaddy 2  52/58
Putter: Odyessey Metal X Milled 1

definitely give the diablo a try. Not sure about the regualr diablo ball but i actually play the callaway HX diablo tour ball.  it is a 3 piece ball that is comparable to the titleist NXT balls and a whole lot cheaper. Dicks actually sells them at 2 dozen balls for $35 since callaway has replaced them with a bunch of newer balls like their 4 piece speed regime balls that they are marketing the heck out of

What's in the bag:
Taylormade R15
Callaway X2Hot pro 3W
Callaway X2Hot pro 20* hybrid
Mizuno JPX900 Tour 4-PW
Cleveland RTX 2.0 50,54, and 58 degree wedges
Taylormade White Smoke putter

I called Callaway. Was informed that they replaced it with their Callaway HEX Diablo ball. Not their Diablo Tour ball. The thing about the "Diablo" ball that I found was the fact that it would roll another 30 to 40 yards after hitting the fairway with my Driver tee shot. Didn't have any problems holding the greens with it. Wal-Mart, Dicks, & Golf Galaxy only carry the Diablo Tour ball.  Any ideas on where to buy a dozen to give them a try?

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
