I had been looking at the JPX-800 HD thinking the JPX-EZ was going to be out of my price range. I had been checking ads on Ebay and came across this for the JPX-EZ.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MIZUNO-JPX-EZ-4-GW-IRON-SET-W-XP-105-R300-REGULAR-FLEX-SHAFTS-/191334864767?nma=true&si;=VK%252Fy0Skk0gzs68WlSJvkbpvcKEQ%253D&orig;_cvip=true&rt;=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

With 10 seconds left I placed the winning bid. Now I am starting to get nervous that they might be fakes. The seller has a lot of reviews with really good feedback so I am hoping that there is no reason to worry.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the price seems low.  The seller rating was lower than I'd normally do business with but nothing in their feedback indicates any clubs he sold were fake so you might have just gotten a good deal.

There's a very recent thread here for JPX 825 Forged that were fake and a lot of good information on how to verify the clubs are real once you receive them.   Good luck.

Thanks for your response. If it helps, that was not a "buy it now" deal, it was an auction.

It helps a bit along with the fact the seller has a high number of transactions without any complaints about fake clubs you're probably okay.   Mizuno is pretty strict about discounting their clubs listed as "new" so this guy is probably not an authorized Mizuno dealer.

The clubs were listed as

100% AUTHENTIC

THIS AUCTION IS FOR A SET OF MIZUNO JPX EZ IRONS

4-5-6-7-8-9-PW-GW

Plus as newtogolf mentioned, the seller has almost 44,000 sales on Ebay with 98% feedback.

That to me is a very reputable seller, I would buy from the guy.

I hit those at demo day this year.

Really liked them, ended up buying a used set of JPX 800's at a great price on Ebay.

@Club Rat ...do you have the 800 reg or HD? There are a bunch of the 800HDs for under $400 on Ebay and again I am a bit worried about forgeries now.

This is the one that really piqued my interest. If something falls through on the sale of the JPX EZ I would really consider this. It looks legit and pretty good rating overall. He has over 10 available though?? Red flag?

The seller seems very reputable. He presently has over 2000 golf items in his store.

EBay protects buyers, and I do not see any reason to not purchase the clubs.

Send an email to the seller if you want him to verify they are indeed Mizuno's and not knock off's.

*Update*

Received the JPX-EZ clubs today. Irons were as described in the eBay listing with the 4, 7-PW, GW all wrapped in plastic. 5 and 6 look like they have been hit a few times but essentially new. Grips were the Golf Pride M-31 and shafts seemed to have all the appropriate stickers including patent sticker on the 6i. Serial number was the same on all of the clubs and located on the back of the hosel, although a few of them were difficult to read. Ferrules look like the ones on the clubs in Dicks and are symmetrically level when the clubs are lined up. Registered the clubs at Mizunogolf.com/register without incident.

Anything else I could check to verify authenticity? I know I am probably being paranoid but I can return them within 14 days for a refund.

Thanks for all of the info so far! Hoping to get out and hit these suckers soon!

Tom

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
