Is anyone familiar with Maruman?

It seems like Maruman's lineup is a little too difficult for my handicap but my dad is looking at a new iron set and is around a ten. He was offered a good deal from a friend and was wondering what kind of reputation the maker has. I believe the set was the maruman forged (i think thats the actual model name). thanks in advance

I had the X Forged, seems like there were many sets on auction last year. Maruman is a high end Japanese maker selling drivers for $1500 and iron set for several thousand. The X Forged, casted M and M Pro were an effort to sell components in the US through custom club-makers by the company as opposed to OEM JP. spec clubs. My set was made in Japan with Nippon 950 shafts. I think the X Forged are top quality Japanese forgings supposedly superior to anything coming out of China, so if they are the real deal with a shaft that works, I would seriously give them a look. All these clubs seem scarce now so I do not know if Maruman is still offering these lines in addition to their high end regular lines only made in Japan.

They are top end and when I purchased by set of Maruman "Curtis Strange" Blade Irons, they were top notch. I sold the set, but kept the 2 iron..

I remember they closed the distribution in the US years ago - but I did not know about the components..

Yes, Maruman is one of high end golf club manufacturers from Japan. There's also Honma Beres line, which seems to getting the hype quite recently. Also don't forget about TourStage. If you're into high quality Japanese golf clubs, try to browse on this site . They also sell on eBay.
