This summer i have worked on my swing, and as a resut, I now have more of a "players" swing. I traded in my old offset irons for 755 with no offset, and am hitting those well, my problem now is my Hybrid, My Hybrid before my swing changes, was my most reliable club, and now it hooks, its the only club in my bag I am not comfortable with. I am usually good at slowing down my swing to determine what im doing wrong, and correct it. but inorder to hit this hybrid (Ben Hogan Apex) i basically have to swing for a slice. I think the reason why im having so much trouble is because i am used to swinging clubs with no offset, and inorder to hit my hybrid, with offset, i have to go back to my old swing to do so. My Question is: Do i need to invest in more pf a "players" hybrid, with no offset such as the Titleist 585 inorder to cure this problem?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

You probably have a better - or at least more consistent - swing than I do, but I was having the same problem with my previous hybrids. I just picked up an Adams Idea Pro Hybrid with no offset yesterday. First few swings with it still produced a strong draw / weak hook but after I got used to it, it was a straight easy swing for 200+. I used it to put one on the green from around 220 out today. From most of the reviews I read, the best hybrid choices with no offset are the Titleist 585H and the Adams Idea Pros.

Same thing happened to me. I picked up two hybrids, and I hooked the hell out of them (and I used to have a natural fade/slice).

I just learned to swing them slower then the rest of my irons, and let the club do all the work. The next step, of course, is to get an Adams Hybrid

    • Day 137 - Upper back was tight today so I did some more pitching work. Really working on letting the club fall instead of forcing it.
    • Day 39: Same thing as previous post, with a 5-iron for about 15 minutes. Feel pretty good about progress so far, so spent another 20+ minutes working on short game shots, which I have been really struggling with on course lately.
    • Day 316: mirror work for a while. Working on getting my hips more open and my hands down faster in the downswing.
    • My short game is no longer a dumpster fire. It’s bordering on being the best part of my game at this point. I still need to stay out of the bunkers but I’m starting to hit shots to makeable distances (if only I could putt). I’ve pretty much gotten the three releases down. My feels for the releases: Drive the handle forward. I haven’t used this one too much lately. Left hand pulls the club. This is my standard motion. Right hand pushes the club. I use this occasionally for flop shots. I’m still in the process of learning how the ball reacts on the green with different shots so there’s plenty of room for improvement. The contact is clean so I’ll be able to dial it in with experience. The most important thing is to slow my tempo down. Way down. I need to bring the club back slowly so that momentum doesn’t put the clubhead in weird places. Not trying to create lag around the greens. Full swing has kind of fallen off but I haven’t practiced much lately. I’ll probably try to get some time in before the Ohio outing.
