Last week I broke 100... this week?

Well this week I got my first birdie.

It was almost an eagle. I put my second shot on the 8th hole to within a foot with my 60* wedge. I was pleading with it to roll that extra foot, but I was more than happy to tap it in for my first bird.

Keep it up dude! Just keep plugging away and you will improve! I just broke 90 for the first time yesterday. I've been whacking away at it for about 3-1/2 months now, and I was starting to get frustrated....I love this game too....

Cheers! I broke 80 for the first time on a par 64. Shot a 79, and like you, got my first birdy too! Mine, like yours again, ended up about 3 inches away from a 120 yard 9 iron.

Man, me and my dad took it up in '97 and we used to stink the course up. . . you couldn't drive us away! visual: me and dad carfully making a human chain out onto frozen lake to get balls ---DURING A ROUND! It couldn't have been over 35degrees!

Nowadays he is a 15 and I am a 9 and it just gets better and better!

Well this week I got my first birdie.

Congratulations my friend. I broke 100 and then a few weeks later got my first birdie (counting regulation courses only) earlier this summer. Great going!

Yeah. IMO, the way for someone who posts triple digit scores to break 100 is to keep the high numbers off the scorecard, not put low numbers on it. While the latter won't hurt, my rounds when I was trying to break 100 were almost entirely "play it safe" -- no going for the green in two (a pretty stupid idea at my level anyway) on par-5s, no hitting to pins unless a miss was just as safe as going for the center of the green, etc.
