So the wife and I are checking out the stalls at the Girl Scout "Boot Sale" (flea market for all us 'Muricans).  I see this old Callaway bag.  I walk by it a couple of times before finally unzipping the rain hood.  Inside is a set of Callaway irons, woods, and A SCOTTY CAMERON DEL MAR PUTTER!

I ask the lady if she'll just sell the putter, but she says it's a set.  So I ask how much for the lot and she says, "100 riyals!" ($25).  Note: this is Saudi Arabia. So I'm now the proud owner of an SC putter.

My center shafted Ray Cook is still my every day stick, but if it ever fails me!  I putt rightie, so I can use it.

Good find. Congrats.

Flea Markets, Estate Sales, Storage Unit sales, and Second Hand stores are all good places to find golf stuff.

A couple of months ago my grandson talked me into going to a storage unit sell off with him. (I have the box truck) We bought a unit for $500. One of the boxes in it contained 10 of those  Kallassy's Swing Magic gizmos. The one with the iron head, with a slide grip  on the shaft. they were still in their original packaging.

Last year at an estate sale I bought a real nice leather bag with some nice clubs in it for $50. I just wanted the bag.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

One time at our weekly scramble I brought my bag full of $1 garage sale putters.  Every team got to pick one putter for the team and use that for the scramble.  The teams actually putted very well leaving all their high dollar two-ball Odysseys, Methods, SC's etc. in the bag!

Sometimes you can find some nice bags and balls, but this is the first time I found a club that was actually worth something.

I don't go to flea markets, but I do check out the golf sections at local thrift stores. I'm usually looking for carry/stand bags -- I'm rough on bags so I buy used ones for $5 to $10 that will usually last me 6 to 12 months. I also prefer the older style single-strap bags (can't stand the double-straps). The single-strappers are hard to find new but are plentiful on the used-ebay-thrift store market.

From time to time I'll also find a gem among the old clubs. Last year I found an old Cleveland Classic blade putter, bought it for $3 and got $22 in trade value at the golf store. At a different store I found an old Titleist 905T that I bought for $6 and got $25 in trade value. But my best find was an old berylium copper sand wedge -- somewhat of a Ping knock-off -- with a old steel shaft and rotten grip. I had it re-shafted in graphite for $35 and polished it; now it's the best club in my bag. Great out of the sand or off the grass.

Just my .02 worth.

What's in the bag:
Driver: TaylorMade R9-460, 10.5 degrees, graphite shaft R flex
Hybrids: Kasco, 17 and 25 degrees, stock graphite shafts
Irons: MacGregor 1025 V-Foil forged irons, 4-PW, graphite shafts R, 2 degrees upright
Wedges: TaylorMade Black Oxide, 52, 56, and 60 degrees, graphite shafts
Putter: Rife Barbados mallet, 35 inches with SuperStroke 2.0 grip                                                                                                      Ball: Titleist AVX yellow

OMG, I forgot to include my favorite golf shopping story from about 10 years ago. I bought an old carry bag at a one-day charity rummage sale. I knew it would hold only about 6 clubs, but I bought it for trips to the driving range when I didn't want to carry my whole bag. I paid $5 for it, and when I got home and checked the pockets, I found 6 brand new Titleists and a plastic bag holding 8 dollars worth of quarters.
