Just wondering how you deal with the big city w/respect to golf - the traffic, lack of places to play, no car perhaps, etc...

I live in Manhattan, and all that driving wears me out by the end of summer.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I live in upper Manhattan as well and don't have a car, yet I manage to play...Van Cortlandt mostly, but sometimes Mosholu (both in the Bronx, both accessible by subway).

I live in Queens, so a little more easier for me to head out to long island. Usually i do have to get up 4-5 AM in the morning to go in as walk on at Bethpage. However, i try to get a reservation wherever I can for a early morning round, and have traveled as far as end of Long Island to play. =) I think I've been to more golf courses in the 4 months I've been playing than my friends who's been playing for more than 5 years!

Try zipcar.com for car rentals. You go to the garage, zap your card and go.
