I'm not crazy about "winter" golf in South Florida because the courses get more crowded and the prices go up. Much more fun to play in the summer where it is cheaper and all the wimps who can't handle the heat / humidity stay off.

However, I'll definitely be out there enjoying the ~70° weather and those 3-4 days of ~60° we usually get throughout the "winter."

You wouldn't care to tell us where that is? I didn't know they had any courses above the Arctic Circle...

How exactly did Al Gore make Kentucky warmer???? The same way he "invented" the internet?

I don't know. Perhaps with his multimillion dollar mansions or gas guzzlers? I'm still working on that one.

As to winter rules, well, that was a bad word to use to describe it. Unless I'm in a tournament round, I'll take a free drop from any situation that may cause damage to my clubs, summer or winter. I'm not going pro any time soon, and I can't afford replacement irons and wedges. But the predominant issue with me is cart path only, which means I might as well walk the course. I - being an overweight and out of shape guy - suffer when walking. Scores go up and I play much slower and play less in general.

I'm no trained athlete either... at 6'2" - 240 nobody will mistake me for a marathon runner.

One thing I do in the winter that not only lightens my load, but helps my all-around game, is to leave behind anything that I don't need and carry my stand bag. I put in about 7 clubs, a half dozen ball at most, a few tees in my pocket. I play lots of "imaginative" shots when I don't have the right club, and over the years I've found that my game is much the better for using this time to learn how to make adjustments in my shot decisions and execution. I also rarely score any worse than I do in the summer... go figure . And it's just fun to carry a light bag and imagine that I'm playing 150 years ago... ok so my equipment is a bit more modern... I guess I just have a good imagination, and that is a valuable tool for a golfer...
