Hey I#M searching for a new 3-Wood and hope you might have some help for me.

I have a Callaway Razr Fit 3-Wood in my Bag and i Just cant get it straight. I just don't feel the Club, I've been struggling with it since i Picked up Golf 2 1/2 Years ago and I need a consistens Wood Hence not Playing Driver (Haven't bought one yet, Wood is first on my Bucketlist)

I'm Playing Taylormade Tour Preffered CB Irons 5-PW, 1.5" longer and 2° Upright, a Cobra Baffler T-Rail 18° Hybrid with standard Regular shaft Hitting my hybrid ~190 and my 5i ~180 so I think I want my 3-Wood to go roughly 205 to 210.

What's wrong with my current wood is that I just don't feel it. It is so light I just swing it and can't feel the head turning. In my irons and Hybrid I feel the Head turning through impact which makes it pretty easy to conttrol for me.

I know it is hard to ask to recommend a club for feels but mybe someone has experience with one that might suit me. I have already layed eyes on the Cobra Fly-Z(Low and back CG), and maybe the Callaway XR 3Deep(nice Big head, looks easy to launch). Any other suggestions or Tips?

Thanks so far

P.S. Of course I will try the club first, but our Pro Shop is relativly small so I might need to order some democlubs online thats why I'm asking in advance ;)

I'll make an experienced guess that your shaft weight in the hybrid and irons are all >85 grams, and that your 3W is much lighter than that, especially newer stock models. Of course the swing plane differs, but I'll skip that here.

As many others will likely repeat here, get fitted. By trial and error (not the cheapest method) I have found shaft flex, length, torque, and weight combos that work for me. Beforehand, I had all the typical long club problems.

I justsearched a little bit for the shaft weights and found some. The Irons have thestandard KBS-Tour shafts at 120g and the hybrid comes with the Tour AD at a whooping 65 gram. The Fairwaywood comes with a spezial callaway shaft for which I sadly can't find any information.

I know that fitting is always the best option but it is a bit hard for me. Our proshop is fairly lmited and the next bigger facility is more than an hour away, which for a student, is quiet a distance. I might give my Pro a visit hoping they already stocked up on new Clubs (mostly Callaway and Taylor made) but was hoping for some other ideas that I might order online for teesting (no charges for testclubs from where I order, thats why this is an option)

Searching through old reviews and articles, I've learned that the stock shaft apparently was the Callaway RazrFit Men's graphite; unfortunately, no one mentions the shaft's weight or flex characteristics.

As for you not feeling the club, you may have gotten the light version. Callaway Pre-Owned shows that the men's model came in both C9 and D2 swingweight. You might want to check your swingweight.

I will look into that when I'm at home during the weekend. How can I check my swingweight? found a tutorial

another question: You want a somehow consistent swingweight through your clubs right? so I might want to look in some woods similar to my hybrid.

65 grams in a hybrid shaft seems light - mine have always had 85.

Looking at shaft names, the shaft weight (not overall swing weight) is usually part of the label, i.e. Fujikura Fuel 60 weighs 67g. The 50 weighs 55-56g, etc. This is for the Stiff flex.

I like to peruse 300yards.com which is an aftermarket custom shaft site. Lots of specs there.

300yards.com or any other website from america is sadly not an option for me because i'm living in germany and shipping is 100$ and more for even smal items like golfballs or something like that.

I played yesterday and having a feeling that my 3-wood kind of knew that it is supposed to be gone within the next weeks...hit it 4 times on the par 5's and went dead straight about 200-220 yards every time :D...

We will have a demo day from callaway at the end of april, maybe i will order a cobra fly z for that weekend and i will have quite some clubs to test then (Callaway BB, XR, XR Pro, Fly Z, and aeroburner from our pro shop)

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
    • Do need a special ferrul. Thanx 😉
