Where does the ball start when you hit your hook? Straight at the target? Right a fair amount?

Hey iacas, thanks for the reply. The ball starts out where I'm aiming a lot of the time but sometimes I'll try to guard against the hook by opening the face and I'll hit a big high push :/ a big thing I'm worried about is how quickly after impact my left arm collapses. I've got like no extension through impact.

The club rolls over quickly as the body stalls on the follow-through.

Lots of other good threads here. :)

Would you suggest being a little more aggressive with my rotation through the swing then? I used to have super aggressive turn but got stuck often with pushes and hooks so I tried to reign that in. Maybe I overdid it?

Yeah. Let the body control the clubface a bit.

BTW, try to get some DTL video and ideally 120 or 240 FPS or so.

More on what @iacas is talking about.

video taken today. I was striking the ball extremely well and I only hit a hook every 15 balls or so but I'm still struggling with my extension. When I try to get a little more aggressive or try not to let the body stall I hit these really nasty thin slice shots and it feels like my upper body is just out of control. I would call this a progress video but I don't see much progress. :/

I'd watch that video again and look at how the lower body/hips/left knee transfer forward on the downswing. That will help you "use the ground" to lessen the forearm/club face roll.

Also shortening up the backswing wouldn't hurt.

I was liking my swing a lot more today. Really worked on reigning in my backswing to get back to parallel.

Kinda worried about standing up out of the shot though.

I think the extension was getting a little better today but I'm definitely still pulling the club in and up pretty quick.

All that said, I was hitting real well and we can only hope for it to get even better.

Sorry about the vertical video. the guy filming didn't know what "Hold it on it's side" meant. Oh well.
