Good day to everyone. I'll be playing the south course at Torrey Pines in about a month. Any advice from those of you who have played it (I.e. Holes to play it safe on versus holes to go for it? Most difficult greens?, etc.)? Best regards & much appreciated

Haven't played there in awhile, but played north, and one general rule Id say is to avoid going long on most holes as they generally slope pretty good back to front. Otherwise, just enjoy it and don't worry too much about your score. It's a tough course.

Choose the correct set of tees. It's a slog otherwise. To tell the truth, I don't remember it being that difficult. All the trouble is right in front of you. Lay up on 18 and don't aim for any front pin.

Play the white tees.  Keep an eye on your ball at all times if there is any chance of going in the rough.  Even with moderate length rough it is hard to find the balls as they tend to sink down.

Have fun.  Have someone take your photo teeing off on the par 3 holes that descend toward the water.

Thanks for the thoughts so far. I did notice the greens for the most part seem to be multi-tiered (downward sloping to the front) so missing short vs long is good idea. We certainly won't be playing from the black tees, as there seem to be an abundance tee shots that we can't pull off with any confidence... Plus, 7,600 yards is out of our reach. It'll probably be white tees (one of the guys in our group is a great golfer, but older and doesn't have the distance). I can already plan on struggling on holes 6 & 7... Dogleg right holes can give me fits. I'll try to remember to get a picture or two, and maybe post one.
