Any thoughts on this?  I've been using the club cleaning bucket  (about 3' high) since I don't have a tripod.  Spent about an hour getting super frustrated because swing was not looking the same as it does at home.  Soon as I got home I filmed a swing (camera at about 4' and used the mirror and it looked completely different (and much better).  Wondering if the lower height at the range is throwing off the picture.

Yes. Whatever height you choose, it's best to stay very consistent.

Hand height at setup is my preferred height.

See this:

I still prefer this one: http://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing . Wayne's preference is too high IMO.

Good article.  I'm curious though: when you use a high speed camera like a casio, is there a way to look at your swing in "real time", i.e., while you practice, or do you have to wait to get home and download onto your computer (I'm all about bringing a camera to the range, but as long as I'm not teaching other people, I'm not going to bring a laptop and have a whole set up going).

I always use the V1 app and my iPhone camera because I can look at each swing after I tape it, draw lines to see alignment and angles, etc.  The frame rate sucks, so I'd prefer to use a high speed camera, but not if it means giving up the ability to review each swing I film.

Pretty sure every camera on the market has a screen and playback ability.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Well, yeah.  I mean frame by frame/slow motion.  Watching full speed videos doesn't really help.

My camera (Canon ELPH) will playback slo-mo and will allow for frame by frame advancement. I suspect that most will. Just do your homework before buying one, but you shouldn't have an issue getting one that allows for this.

Yes, the preferred camera is the FH-25, with the FH-20 and the FH-100 closely behind. I look at things on the camera, and download them to the computer later at night.

As @Ernest Jones said, most have a screen. Including those I listed above.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
