i understand the benefits of a Launch Monitor when getting fitted for a driver.

but i have to say i question their effectiveness for practice indoors.  i went to PGA tour store and practiced in their bays with LM many times this winter.  i finally got to a range and a played my first round Sunday.  I do not think the indoor LM helped at all.  in fact it might have hurt my game.

i became so focused on "numbers" and lost track of directional control, timing, rhythm, draw or fade: meaning actually playing golf!  this become very clear very quickly on the course.

i was watching the golf channel and John Daily was on talking driving the ball on the range and he didn't care for the LM.  he wants to see the ball flight and hit real shots. i would have to agree with him.

I'm no expert on this, but my gut on this is that without a qualified instructor, and an actual reason or goal to be using a launch monitor (whether indoors or outdoors), LM is a waste of time.

When you go to play, just play . Don't think about numbers or what you practiced the day before, just have a good time playing!

To be blunt about it: you used the LM incorrectly, then.

The point is to use it to verify some things you can't with other means or methods. Like what your AoA is, or your path and face at impact. It's helpful to correlate "feel" to what's "real." It's not to focus solely on the numbers to the exclusion of making good golf swings.
