It all depends on the lie that you have, as it is tougher to hit a lob wedge from the hard pan.

Yeh i agree, also try spin milled wedges and soft golf balls. Try some bump and runs mabe??

Assuming you are making solid contact with a proper chipping motion, move the ball further up in your stance and open up the face of your sw. You will also have to open your stance a little to get the face aimed at your target. Now just make a small swing along your body line (kinda like a bunker shot) and try to keep the clubface open thru impact. This will add loft and spin to the shot.

Ah, this is precisely what I needed to do. I moved the ball further up toward the middle of my stance and this added more height and spin. I tried opening up the club face and this added even more spin. I actually was hitting this shot in the beginning of the season, but was not getting enough roll. I then moved the ball back to get more roll. Forgot that I orginally had it more forward for more loft and less roll.

Thanks!

i don't know about going as far as to use a different ball. that can end up hurting your game if you rely on equipment. you have to learn how to do things on your own...

I agree to a certain extent that you have to learn HOW to make the shot before equipment is going to be of much help, but once you have good fundamentals, the type of ball is a big concern, more so than the brand of wedge.

If you want to get any spin at all on a short pitch or chip, you have to have a ball that will grip the clubface... your basic TopFlite XL just ain't gonna get the job done. Good technique combined with a premium ball and a fairly generic wedge will give you more consistent control than poor form with a Vokey wedge and a Pinnacle ball.
