Just joined TST and wanted to introduce myself. As you can guess from my username, my name is Matt and I live in North Carolina. I have a wife, three kids, the youngest being one month old, three cats, a garden and an old truck. My grandfather taught me to swing a club when I was about ten years old but I was a high school and college tennis player so I never played from the age of 13 until after law school. Even then I played less than ten times a year. About three years ago I decided I was tired of shooting 115+. Have never had a problem with distance, I am not Bubba-long but am long for my skill level and usually longer than everyone I play with, particularly with irons, but I have terrible consistency. Anyway, started keeping a handicap which was at the legal limit hah, then in 2013 dropped from 28 to 21 and last year from 21 to a low of 14.1 but up to a 14.5 now and will trend upwards as my best three rounds come off next from when I really had my swing going last June and shot in the 70s twice. Anyway, I have read many articles and posts on this site over the years and finally decided to join up. I saw the sidebar with 9 reasons to join and figured why not. :-P I really want to get better at this game. I have loved it since I was a kid and still can't sleep the night before I have a match. With the kids, practice time is hard to come by butt I have ponied up the cash to have a nice set up in the garage with a Skytrak LM so I can continue to try and improve. I leave for work early to hit the putting green for half an hour before work. I will post a swing at some point but wanted to introduce myself and thank all of those that have made this site a great source of information.

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
