How often does The SandTrap get mentioned in print media? Today's the first time that I can remember being aware of it: I was reading the new issue of Golf Digest and this forum was mentioned (page 106). Whether this is frequent or rare, I think it's awesome

The article isn't about The SandTrap or about web forums in general; it's actually part of an article about Rory. Article begins page 102.

The November issue?

I was interviewed (kind of - gave tips on watching a golf tournament) in Golf Magazine earlier this year. We've been mentioned a few times. I tend not to care too much because we have more readers than Golf or Golf Digest, but it's still nice. I'll have to flip to page 102 when my issue arrives. I seem to get magazines a week later than most people.

My son and I both has a subscriptions to Digest, but his arrives 2-3 weeks before mine. WTF?? Oh well, at least I read his first.

The November issue?

It's in the November issue, yes. Page 102 is the start of the article, which I enjoyed reading. TST is mentioned in the article, although the site isn't the focus of the article.

WOW! That's impressive. Care to share how the numbers break down? I must admit I don't subscribe to either of those mags, but pick one up on occasion. I do read TST daily it seems.

I've spent most of my life golfing - the rest I've just wasted.

The in-laws bought one for my son not knowing I already had the subscription.

I got my mag and was reading the article on Saturday morning and noticed the mention of TheSandTrap.com, which I thought was funny because I just started visiting this site. Good exposure anyways...

Thing is, I'm fairly certain nobody ever wrote what was quoted. I think it was provided as an "example" or "representative" opinion, not as one that was actually spoken.

I've searched and I can't find anything about "pie hole"s or the rest of it.

We've been "mentioned" again:
http://www.golfdigest.com/magazine/b...and-tiger.html
(Of course, we were mentioned as "sandtrap.com," which isn't right...).

At any rate, I still can't find this "pie hole" comment. Not anywhere. Actually, I found it in one place on our forum (not counting this thread, where I said I couldn't find the words "pie hole" anywhere. Here it is:
http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?p=40818#3

Uhhh, yeah, has nothing to do with Rory Sabbatini.

In other words, we were misquoted!

    • I have an update… I don't have much of a response, because the fact that they would ADD the numbers for the lead and trail shoulder together… I mean, wow. I was giving them too much credit. Nobody would think to assume they were doing THAT. That's beyond comical. One of the biomechanists I talked to put it this way: "So if I squatted down and went from 180 to 90 deg knee angle, then I would say 180 deg range of motion because I have two knees?" I'd type more (maybe), but honestly, I'm laughing a bit too hard. 🤣 Update: Mini Manavian blocked me on Instagram, so I cannot see his post showing Bryson with about 50° of range of motion (with a driver) from P4 to P7, and 75° only if you go out to the mid-follow-through. What a terrible loss for me. 😉
    • Thanks, interesting to read. The swing is definitely very timing dependent. I hit it consistently I guess but consistently bad.
    • I've shot 91-74 on the same day before. Couple of years ago played a two round tournament on Bethpage Black. I shot 72 in the first round and 90 in the second. First round I played very well. Second round I played okay, but had about 5 shots that hit the lips of bunkers and bounced down into them. A couple of those wound up in footprints - I was unamused - and I failed to get them out. Anyway - lots of bunkers and my bunker play isn't great and then add a couple of footprints and me getting pretty tired and it added up to a lot.  Only you can really tell though what's causing the variance. It might be that your swing is very timing dependent and when it's timed well you play well and when it's not then it goes all over the place. In that case, some lessons and working on your swing could be the key. If it's more that you tend to feel like you hit it fairly consistently, but you have days where the shots come off and days where they don't, then that's more likely a course management issue. If that's what you need to work on, then you could read Lowest Score Wins and build a plan of attack based on that.  Rest assured though that a pretty big range from high to low is fairly common. Even PGA Tour players often have 18-20 shot spreads from best to worst rounds in a season. It's a common affliction among golfers.
