Which courses do you prefer in C. MB. Looking for mid tier kind. Like Pine Lakes, Myrtlewood Palmetto, Pinehills etc. Any of these good? Any others?

Pine Lakes, and both Myrtlewood courses are certainly mid tier and are location convenient. Arrowhead and Myrtle Beach National are also very close to the center of the city and offer decent layouts. Legends golf complex is just out on 501 about 10 minutes from Myrtlewood and offers three 18 hole layouts. All quite nice. The further away from the city of MB you go, the better the courses get.

If you are looking for a family outing type course, try the Pinehills Course at Myrtlewood. That's your best bet.

If you are looking for a family outing type course, try the Pinehills Course at Myrtlewood. That's your best bet.

The two Myrtlewood courses are interesting but fun. Holes for the most part have reasonably wide fairways. Caution: don't be overly aggressive on the Par 5s. Missing dogleg bends can lead to some #*!! shots.

Also consider Myrtle Beach National - South Creek course. This course has men's tees just over 6,000 yards / women's at 4,800 / and rewards accuracy over raw distance.

My wife and I played these in March, when I was on a secret mission from TST to test out the Bridgestone e6 golf balls.

The Southcreek at Myrtle Beach National is definitely a shot makers course. It's target golf and a nice layout. The West Course at MBN is actually much easier. It may be slightly longer, but is so wide open its actually hard to lose a golf ball on that course.

I'm not sure what the best way to get PM deals would be. Honestly, we are in our off season for golf here. Rates are at their lowest because it's so hot. You should take a look at mbn.com and see what's available. It's a good starting point to find decent deals. There's a huge PGA Tour Superstore right at the corner of bypass 17 and 29th ace north...it's 1 block away from Myrtlewood. Right inside the lobby they have a golf booking desk and can probably find you the best deal. Not sure how many rounds you are looking to play, but the Myrtle beach national complex is worth looking into for a pm round. Either the south or west course will have good afternoon rates.

South Creek is one of the worst layouts in Myrtle Beach.  Pine Lakes used to be great until the renovation.  They screwed up two fun Par 5s and made them into difficult Par 4s.  The new three holes are boring.  It was good that they fixed the old finishing holes, which were flawed, but in trying to make it a "premium" course they took a lot of the charm out.  Unless you get a really good deal, skip Pine Lakes

As was previously said, both Myrtlewood courses are mid tier but solid.  I prefer Palmetto over Pine Hills.

Sounds like someone had a bad round of golf? I don't have any issues with the SouthCreek layout, and I can assure you it's not even close to the worst layouts in this city. It is a shorter, target golf type layout. It's definitely a shot-makers course. Some holes require a little thought and strategy off the tee. You can't just pull driver and rip it off every tee. But there are plenty of holes to let the driver go. I have to agree with you on one point, Pine Lakes didn't do themselves any favor with the renovation. I don't personally enjoy the course. And it's not worth a premium price.

I've played four or five rounds on South Creek and put up perfectly fine scores.  But there are several dog shit holes and that's enough for me to rank it at (or near) the bottom in the Grand Strand area.  And I've played 40+ courses there.  Thirteen (I think), for example, is a piece of shit Par 4.  Basically, I have to mash a 3 wood or hit a 3/4 driver to even have a shot at the green.  That's an absolute shit hole.  Nine sucks too, because I've hit solid drives in the middle of the fairway only to be greeted with a ridiculous lie on those silly mounds that appear to have buried the cloned corpse of Craig Stadler.  Sixteen is awful off the tee, too.  The landing area to approach the green is tiny, and if you hit a solid drive you can get right through the ideal spot.  Eighteen kind of sucks for similar reasons as well.

Respectfully, I disagree completely. #13 is a par 3. #18 is a nice hole. #16 is a relatively easy par 5. It's actually quite open off the tee. I guess the course doesn't fit your game or something. Because those holes are neither tough nor unfair. Maybe we are talking about a different course.
