Call the courses.  They will know if leagues have openings.

Silver Lake maybe?  I used to live in Homewood and remember Silver Lake to be a really nice track.  As Scott mentioned above, figure out what day(s) work for you.  Call local courses and ask for contact info for league organizers on those evenings.  If you can get that info, email and and ask to get on their sub list.  Vacations / work travel means leagues are always looking for subs.

If you're fortunate enough to get calls to sub, use those opportunities to 'audition' the league and the people playing.  If you play your cards right, you'll likely be asked to join and pair up with a player whose partner might not be playing next season.

The Weekly Challenge Golf Tour is a great touring golf league.  Plays some of the top course in the area including multiple country clubs.  Currently has about 60 members with tournament fields between 24-40.  Good prize money, tournament golf and a great group of players.  Check it out
