I have come to realize that the Scotty Cameron craze is almost cult like. What scares me is that I am starting to follow them. I bought a Scotty Cameron Camo Trucker Hat this Summer. It is my High Class/White Trash hat. I overpaid a little for it, but it wasn't too bad. The other day I got my Cameron e-newsletter and they had these cool new hats. Of course they were already sold out as the Club Cameron members get first crack at the stuff. I immediately went to ebay and found one for $31.88 + $8.88 shipping. I did a buy it now and it came in the mail yesterday. I still can't believe I bought a $40 hat. It is pretty cool though. The biggest problem is that it's brown. Most of my golf shirts are colors. I did get a nice tan microfiber golf shirt for my birthday so it must have been meant to be.

Is there a 12 step Scotty program. I am afraid that soon I'll be bidding on $100 putter covers and $200 money covers.

To throw gasoline on the fire, do you know about the 3 day golf show down at the Gibraltor Trade Center first weekend in November? I bet there will be some Scotty stuff there.

It's true. Go to ebay and search Scotty Cameron Putter Covers. There is actually one on there now that the starting price is $899. Nuts.

I'm not sold on that hat man, but to each his own. The scotty craze is a little crazy and I could never see myself involved in something like that. I've had a lot of equipment over the last four years but I tend to let go of things, trade ins, ebay sales etc etc.

With putters the scotty's are real nice but collecting putters just goes a little over the top and is actually a little goofy when you think about it. Invite someone over and like hey look at my putters... ummm, not sure on that one.

I agree with you about the putters. I guess some people look at them like art. I can't see paying hundreds for a putter that won't be going into my bag. The putter is the club that I tend to stick with the longest. I used the same Ping Pal4 for over 10 years before switching to the Scotty. I don't plan to change anytime soon.

On a related note. Has anyone ever sent their putter to the Scotty Camreon Custom Shop? What did you have them do?

I was registering yesterday and read a story about a guy buying a 1of5 SC mini for 35k!!! and he had @ 1 time I believe he said 90 putters. WTF!

Sorry, maybe you just need stupid money or money that I just can't fathom but I could never see me buying 90 putters! Maybe collectables like Tigers that he used @ one of his major wins signed and COA'd plus a note saying how great a guy I am, and he wished to play with me. I don't get it...

I broke down and bought some new clubs this year (driver, 3W, hybrid, putter). Now, I had bought mostly used clubs recently, but my source closed. I am absolutely in love with my purchases, so I don't second-guess the amount, but hundreds on a putter??? Driver, 3W, hybrid, you swing them at 90-100+mph, it has to send a ball out even faster, all the while feeling balanced, maintaining shaft integrity, etc....

A putter is barely more than a rock on a stick. I know putts are the most important strokes we make, but I'm not sure I can be convinced that a $300 putter really does the job any better than a nice $75 one. Even if that putter worked better for me than a cheap one, you'd then have to convince me that the relevant characteristics of that $300 putter couldn't be reproduced for much less.

i had my best round of putting this past weekend. the putter was $9.99 lol . i have had two scottys in the past (newport and caliente). both were nice.


i am getting a scotty here in the next month for a wedding present!! my parents are getting me a newport with the year engraved on it and some other custom stuff done on it.


i would never pay 400 for a putter or collect them.

Be unique, collect 6 irons. It's just as pointless, but much cheaper.

Jeep, I went to that Golf Show today and they didn't really have any SC paraphernalia but had some excellent prices on the Red X putters; original was $10, new X/3 and X/5 was $229. Very good prices on clubs if you knew what you wanted and clothing was marked down big.

Next show is at the Mt.Clemens site first weekend in December .
