I am just getting back into playing after 3-4 years off - very much not in golf shape upon my return :)

I have seen some people mention Joey D and his golf specific workout and I work with someone that is a firm believer in the P90 system. How do they compare? Will I get the same golf benefits out of the P90 system that i would get out of Joey D?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated...

Can't comment on Joey D but Tony Horton and his P90 series are fantastic for speed, balance, and overall strength. Done P90X2 and 3 many times they are awesome.

I don't know about Tony Horton, but I have Joey D's book "Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing" and I recommend it. The book has fitness tests to see what particular area in which you need the most work. The book gives you a "prescription" to fix whatever it is. 6 tests and specific exercises to address the specific problem. I was deficient in 3 of the 6....balance, hip turn, and shoulder turn.

In my opinion you are comparing apples to oranges. If you want to get in shape do P90, if you want to work on golf-specific exercises do Joey D.

Any of the Beach Body methods are as much about their diet plan as anything. To get the intended result really have to do everything. Any exercise will make you feel better but if looking better in the mirror is one of the measuring stick for you following the diet is important, there is some calorie restriction with the BB stuff. I have the Joey D book and it's meh if you are already fitness minded.

Agree. I do Joey D along with PX90 type exercises. The Joey D part is only 20 minutes.

    • I would like to amend my original comment on the new Maxfli irons. Yes, $800 for forged irons is a pretty good price and they do feel good BUT...I have since found out that $800 is only for off the shelf, standard issue clubs with standard lengths, lofts, lies and shafts. Any change made from stock results in huge up-charges so that the final price ends up pretty much the same as similar forged irons from any of the major manufacturers.
    • These were almost all included on the list of Clarifications or revised Model Local Rules released just a few days ago.  I'm pretty sure the first 3 are brand new MLRs (Moved/Wrong Place, Embedded Ball in someone else's pitch mark, Internal OB applies only to tee shot) that the PGA Tour is choosing to use.  The 16.1 Rule (relief near a Putting Green) was revised allowed a Committee to give relief for more than just Immoveable Obstructions, microphone holes would be classed as GUR (a hole made by the maintenance staff).  The replacement club rule was available before, the E-3 (Lift Clean and Place distance) could have been defined as "one scorecard" before, they're just a change in how the PGA choices. Here are the January 1 Clarifications and revised MLRs https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/clarifications-of-the-rules-of-golf.html#cp
