anyone know of any drills to help eliminate wrist roll through impact. i noticed the other day that i was a little open through impact so i guess psychologically i have tried to compensate by but it has resulted in hooks and lower shots with less distance.

My experience has been to swing with the left hand only and then try to feel that in your golf swing. Most over-releasing or even flipping is from an overzealous right side and/or hand. Having the left wrist lead through impact will improve your ballflight, distance, and consistency.

Most of the time, I find that the worse people's setups/swings are the more 'flippy' they have to get during the swing (because they have to subconciously square the clubface with their hands due to a faulty swing).

If this is not the case though then there's probably one drill you'd really like. I call it the disconnect/reconnect drill. Basically feel as though the butt head is connected to your core during setup. Take it back (which should naturally lead to a disconnect). Then take it down (which should lead to a reconnect) but try to keep your hands as passive as you possibly can (basically, trying to give you the feel of releasing with your body instead of your hands). This should lead to a reconnection during contact and subsequent disconnect during the follow though. It should also result in minimalisation of forearm/hand roll/release.

Another way is to strengthen your grip severely and then attempt to swing this way. To stop the thing from hooking you have no choice but to 'chase' after the ball which will clearly result in less hand/forearm roll.

Finally, you could just try hitting punch shots which forces you to keep the clubface square to the target line for longer.
