I just thought it would be cool for the people that are self employed to discuss marketing and how we can make ourselves known to as many potential clients/customers as possible for the lowest price. Something I have been doing that has helped my law firm immensely is advertising on Facebook Buy Sell and Trade groups around my area. I will run specials anywhere from 20% to 50% off of services I feel are lagging behind.

My new business does marketing for small - medium sized businesses.  The marketing plan for each business is somewhat unique depending on who their target market is.  For a law firm, social media is a great medium, though I'd caution you in advertising too steep a discount as some will see that as desperation and it devalues your time.  The key to social media is to make your ads not look like ads so people opt to read them rather than ignore them.  LinkedIn is another great resource for small businesses.

Depending on what the natural search engine ranking is for your website you might also consider Google Adwords for key search phrases within your local area.  You want your website to show up in at least the two pages of any key word search you deem critical to your firm.  Focus your ads on what your specialty is and where you make the most money.

Thanks. Once I am more financially secure I have a pretty decent plan in place for my website and Google as I'm the only attorney in the immediate area of about at least 10,000 people and one of only about 10 attorneys in a wider area of about 100,000. Then the outskirts.
