Can anyone tell me about Nicklaus "The Bear" linear dynamics with offset? I bought them used for cheap and had them fitted to me @ 7 years ago. I changed jobs and never took up the game. Now i want to get serious about it, but wondering if i should keep these irons or go a different direction. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you in advance! God bless!

Haven't a clue about the clubs you reference but if you bought them 7 years ago, used, I think you should go in a different direction, like buy a used set off ebay if you don't have the cash, great deals there.

You may have a tough time coming up with someone that has experience with those irons. Jack was the best golfer but his clubs aren't widely available. If it had offset one could guess that it was a game improvement club, if so then in the last 7 years there have been big jumps in what's available in the SGI and GI irons.

Ping, Callaway, Cobra and Taylormade, to name a few all make great clubs that should easily fit your needs.

You'll really need to go to a big box store, such as Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, Dicks. to name a few and ask to see some SGI/GI irons and see what you like, plus you'll be able to hit some and you can see what you like the best.

Nicklaus Clubs were more popular in the late 90's- early 00's.

We do not know your level play or what may suit you. If you are starting again, the tech has advanced, even for irons, in the last 6 years.

Ping G400 Max 9/TPT Shaft, TEE EX10 Beta 4, 5 wd, PXG 22 HY, Mizuno JPX919F 5-GW, TItleist SM7 Raw 55-09, 59-11, Bettinardi BB39

I looked your clubs up on Ebay, $33.00 for a full set, 3-PW, doesn't look like they are in high demand. They look more like a players iron not for someone who is starting out. As recommended above, seek out a good set of Super Game Improvement (SGI) or Game Improvement (GI) irons. Cobra Baffler irons with three hybrids can be had on Ebay for less then $300, more like $260. But go to a big box store and see what you like first.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
