What do you think of Augusta's plans to lengthen the golf course yet again? My thoughts are pretty clearly laid out in that article. What are yours?

With reading the article I say leave it alone. What have they got against adding some rough instead of lenth?Put some U.S. open type rough in and then you made it a tougher course with out taking away 35% of the field.

I like flap's idea.. just give it some rough and with the "Augusta Greens" hitting it in the lengething rough. It should be plenty hard.

They don't have "rough" at Augusta...they have "the first cut." The founders didn't really believe in "rough" per se. So I don't think rough will be an option any time soon.

Bobby Jones didn't believe in 500-yard par-4s either.

They made a good point on TGC and the 19th hole the other day. We understand how golf equipment and golfers and maintenance makes for a longer course than when Jack played, etc. But a course that's, say, 1000 yards longer than it was 20 years ago makes it nearly impossible to compare records.

Amen to that brother. Or should I say Amen corner to that brother?

I don't think the greens were nearly as fast back then either.

I can agree to that. But what would you rather see a birdie fest or a US Open type masters? I still think that lengething the rough would make it plenty hard.
