Just wondering whether there is such an apparatus for measuring the pitch of a shaft in relation to the club face. Meaning a golf club with a joystick like hosel. The reason I am asking is a lot of times I felt very comfortable with a certain grip but refuse to turn the club to make it square to the target and how I wish  the shaft could be pitched so that the club face will be square. I know I can turn the club and regrip it but it will feel different because the different pitch will cause an uneven feeling in the hands. Am I talking CRAPS here!!!

Yeah, sorry, that doesn't make much sense. Turn the grip. They're round unless you have a reminder rib.

imagine this. Your desire grip gives you a closed club face. Now without changing the loft of the club, what do you do?

Honestly there isn't much you can do without moving your hands. A closed clubface produced by rotating around the shaft will de lof the club. I can't measure the loft. I would say you need to push your hands out to right field, out and away from you. This will maintain your grip, but  move the face to square to your target line. It still doesn't fix the fact you originally gripped the club with a closed face. In the end you will need to have an adjustment in your swing to compensate for that depending on your swing path.

In the end why not just grip the club with the face square or open to the target line?

would rotating the club face through the shaft and not through hand rolling change the pitch? Yes it does. Most evidently is the driver. You really don't want to forward your left hand more outwards of your body to get a square face at address. So one way is to grip weaker another is to roll both wrist towards right. Do you agree your most comfortable grip will enable you to swing more on plane. So would you let your clubs PLAY YIOU OR YOU PLAY YOUR CLUBS? How about twisting the club head clockwise to get a square face. That way you have your  most comfortable grip and a squre club face. This would be possible if club fitting accessories were to have  joystick like hosel that can rotate 360 and one only need to get fitted for each club with their most desirable grip position.

If you rotate the hands then you rotate the shaft. If you are talking about gripping the club closed then rotating it open by turning the hands over towards the right then I do not advocate that.

So one way is to grip weaker another is to roll both wrist towards right.

If you have the club set up square to the target and grip it weak versus strong the club will still be square to the target. Grip type is just preference with a bit of fine tuning on clubface control in the swing. Besides  one versus the other does not change how the club is set up at address.

Nope. I had a super strong grip for years. It was comfortable and I was horribly off plane. Also grip changes are easy to make and easy to get use to.

Nope, because I wouldn't grip the club closed to begin with. I tend to grip the club square to slightly open to the target. I don't change that when I take my set up. I wouldn't advocate people doing that anyways.

HUH! How would you even be able to hit the ball if you have a swivel in the hosel? Grips are round, they don't change based on how you rotate the club. If I rotate my club 45 degrees the grip feels the same as I grip it normal. Honestly this idea sounds totally pointless.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
