Not a fan of Watson the way it put the beatdown on Jeopardy Champs, but this sounds interesting.

Golfers hoping to improve their game may soon be able to get coaching help in real time from a new app called Watson Golf Pro. The app was born out of a partnership between IBM’s computer Watson, the machine that beat Ken Jennings at Jeopardy! in 2011, and task start-up Spare5, which matches users who have free time with companies or customers who need a specific job completed.

The app utilizes Watson’s visual processing abilities to analyze a player’s golf swing and stance, information used to provide tips and advice from real-life golf professionals. Spare5 hopes to someday expand this kind of pairing of mobile technology with human expertise to other industries, including healthcare and retail.

Tech is not the answer to all. Lots but not all.

Maybe Watson has read Lowest Score Wins and has viewed all the 5SK videos in the Swing Thoughts section. ;-)

      Wow that was disingenuous. Like, let’s ignore that golfers actually rotate. It isn’t all side bend. Has incorrect or excessive side bend hurt golfers sure. In no way are golfers taught to just fling their hips towards the target. To basically claim it’s him versus this evil golf instruction industry is just disingenuous.

      I'm starting to move with some speed and confidence. Carried the fairway bunker 225 yards out on the 17th yesterday fairly comfortably. I don't think it was a one off drive either. Pretty much back to game speed. On another note it doesn't seem like my pelvis is nearly as thrusty compared to a this time last year. I hope I'm judging that correctly. It's an ongoing battle.
