Still listening to this as I post. It's from: http://trainugly.com/. Not familiar with this site, will skim through it to see if what applications it has w/resp. to golf. I only noticed one golf specific piece:

http://trainugly.com/train-ugly-golf-david-ogrin/

It's basically randomizing your practice, which others like Hebron and others whose names escape me - who've written about this.

Update: He makes a great point - do you want to look good in practice or do you want to perform when it really matters? It could be argued the more cr@p shots you hit on the range, the more effective that session is assuming you're changing the picture the way you want to.

I'm 5.5 minutes in (because I'm going to be writing up a topic on block vs. random practice) and the guy hasn't talked about practice yet.

He seems to be setting up that in other sports you have to randomize practice because game situations are never really similar… but that doesn't apply to golf like it applies to volleyball or football. There's no opponent or "reaction" in golf like there are in those other sports.

Oh, at 5:50 he starts talking about two practice strategies. I posted seconds too early. 😉 Let's see if my guess was right…

His example of randomly putting from different places… isn't great practice. The kid wasn't reading anything, he was just hitting putts.

He said "arm movements" and baseball players in the two studies, but didn't say how they practiced or what the transfer test was.

Plus, none of this deals with changes to the technique, per se.
