Since i have started i have been hiting the ball pretty good. And the last week it has been going straight 90% of the time. i mean i 30 years old and dont know why i have never played. i am not to sure what hitting fat means. What i do is hit the ball and not leave a Divot. since readiing this mag i have tried to change it. THX

Typically you don't take divots with long irons or woods (or very minimal).. However, if you're a beginner it probably means you're hitting it "thin" which means you're pulling up and only hitting the top half of the golf ball. Hitting it "fat" means your swing bottoms out before it gets to the ball causing you to take a divot behind the ball. Hitting a ball fat or thin is considered a mishit and more often than not causes a loss of distance. Hope this helps

I believe the trick to hitting hybrids is to tone your swing down, especially from the rough, to about 80% and keeping my head down through impact (down, not still). Making flush contact from the rough is paramount and all you're really trying to do is get it in the fairway or "near" the green. I carry a 17* and a 22* hybrid and I'm very comfortable hitting both. Actually, I'll use my 17* over my 3-wood if I have the slighest doubt about a shot from 200+ yards. Granted I create the distinct possibility of leaving it short, however I think the added control I have with the 17* gives me a higher percentage of keeping it in the short stuff in the event of an errant shot...

My step-son (age 18) uses the Adams hybrid irons as well and when we're out on the course I find he loses less than 10 yards on thin mishits... The gang at Adams certainly know how to make an affordable set of game improvement irons.
