Mizuno woods have been overshadowed by their irons from most poeple's perspective and always didn't seem to be as popular as their irons.

Ignoring the preconception of Mizuno woods, I tried their new products at a Mizuno fitting center. Following are my brief summaries about them. All statements are my personal opinion.

MX 560 (Driver 10.5*) - Many people always told me that Mizuno drivers are one of the worst... However, I was very surprised with this one. Has a slight closed faced and a weird look from top (nothing weird like the square ones) but the energy transfer to the ball was awesome. At the point of impact you can really feel the ball with a loud bang off the club face. Distance was really good and definitely forgiving. You could work the ball if you wanted to but I think this driver is more for distance/forgiving seeking golfers. Feel was not solid like my 907D2 but slightly more like a trampoline but a good feel. Nothing to be bothered about. But if you are seeking for distance, this driver would be one of the top contenders with the right shaft with their custom fitting department. I tried it with stock Exsar stiff shaft which I felt pleasantly supprised too for its good feel and performance.

MP 600 (Driver 9.5") - Another solid driver which also had awesome distance. Slightly less forgiving than the MX 560 but should not be a problem for decent ball strikers. The weight system really does effect the ball flight/swing but definitely not a "cure" for bad swings. What I really liked about this driver was the traditional look from the top and the great "bounce" effect off the face. Distance was very, very long. I might seriously consider this driver. Tried it with yellow Fujikura Rombax stiff shaft with it.

F-60 (Fairwaywood 13.5* & 15*) - To me it felt like my current Titleist 906F2 but with more forgiveness. Great control and distance. Very solid feel at impact. Tried it with Exsar stiff shaft. 15* ball flight was slightly higher than my 906F2 but not ballooning. Gained about 7-10 yards in average compared to my fairwaywood. Not really recommended for high cappers but excellent equipment if you are a decent ball striker. Solid feel and for people who don't like bore through design would definitely like this.

MP-57 (Iron) - I just wanted to do a comparison with my MP60 out of curiousity. Thicker top which is not that cumbersome and definitly more forgiving. Slightly less feel and still workable. However, not that big of a difference to change my current MP60. My personal preference was still MP60.

MP-T (Wedge) - Many people say that Mizuno wedges are difficult and not good in feel. However, I might have to disagree. Could tell the softness off the face with good amount of spin. Mishits was slightly less forgiving compared to my Vokey Spin Milled but the feel of the ball sticking to the face was awesome. These will be my next set of wedges once my Vokeys wear off. Tried both Black Nickel and Chrome.

IMPO Mizuno offers very solid line of equipments for the next season. The only piece that I could not try were the putters which I am really looking forward to. After trying out their woods, it got rid of my perception that Mizuno woods are not up to the standard. I personally think that they are great, solid equipments which both low and high cappers can enjoy.

I totally agree with your review of the F60...It actually feels exactly like the 906F4, but for reasons I can't explain, I get more distance from the F60 (maybe the shaft??). Forgiveness is the same, and weight is similar if not exact. For the same price, the Titleist and the Mizzy are a toss-up.

I'm considering of getting a fairway wood to put into my bag, perhaps a 4-wood. Now this confuses more as from what I've read F-60 is also a solid wood compared with 906F4 and r7 st. Any insights between these 3?

I also am really liking my F-60 (13.5). I've only hit the 906f2 in a golf shop, so I can't offer a comparison, but the earlier comments sound about right. It's reasonably forgiving and feels very solid. I like the size of the face; it seems fairly deep. I enjoy the ball flight, and so far I've been able to vary it a little when I need to. And the sole seems to work well off the deck. Plus, I think it looks fantastic: glossy black crown with no alignment aid, and it appears to sit square.

Two notes: I like the stock shaft. For reasons that aren't worth mentioning here, I have trouble trying out a lot of different shaft options and/or changing shafts. So, a usable stock shaft is important to me, and this is the best 3 wood shaft I think I've played. Also, the club seems heavy to me, which probably enhances its solid feel, but because I've also been using a Sonartec NP-99 3-wood, the Mizuno seems on the hefty side. (Or at least that's how I explain my chunks to my playing partners!)

Hi Everyone,

Island Par here from the Philippine Islands, would just like to add to Hypergolf's comments on the New Mizuno Mx560 driver. I actually bought one with the stock shaft and 10.5*loft and got to use it today at a local club. For me, the club was fantastic as I was hitting straight center of the fairway drives with an additional 10-20 yards from my distance! What started with jeers from my friends for buying a Mizuno, ended with amazement after my first tee shot, which was high, straight, long and LOUD (which caught the attention of the other golfers lining up to tee off next)! The rest of the par 4 and 5s were the same. I had major problems with my drives before but this driver solved all my problems.

Am now in search of a 3 or 4 fairway wood and a 21* hybrid, any suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

Your TM Rescue Dual TP should be a good to interchange for 2, 3 iron and 5 wood. So I don't think 21* is really necessary in your bag. However, if you really want to get something, Ping G10 Fairways and hybrids were pretty good. Mizuno Fli CLK could also be a great addition IMO.

Yes, I really liked the loud bang on the MX 560. Feels great doesn't it?

Yes it really does feel great. Glad I didn't listen to friends or took the advice of the few reviews on the 560Mx available online which were all negative, otherwise I would have missed out on a great driver!

Thanks for the advise on the fairway woods and hybrids. As you see from set below, I don't have any fairway woods, so might I trouble you again with some questions? Do I need one? Am thinking of the F60 am not sure what loft would be ok for a high handicapper like me. Any suggestions?

About the fairway metals a stock 15* 3 metal should be perfectly fine, the biggest things is to demo as many clubs as you can, and don't go in thinking that you have to buy a specific brand, go in with an open mind. Hope this helps, and good luck

I totally agree with 907golfer12. 15* or 15.5* 3 wood should not be a problem. 18* or 18.5* 5 wood will work better than 3 wood at high handicap but it is totally up to you. 17* to 19* hybrid can work as well instead of buying any fairwaywoods for now until you drop to consistant mid 90's. So to answer your question, NO you don't have to have a fairwaywood as of now.

I know as there are many brands out there so it can get confusing trying to choose a specific one. For high handicappers I would recommend you try the following. Altough F60 is stated on the website that it fits from beginner to advanced but I wouldn't consider it forgiving for high cappers. I have tried all the clubs listed below and they were all good but it is up to you to decide the feel, fit, distance etc. Fairwaywoods (NOT in any specific order): Callaway Big Bertha Callaway X Fairway Callaway X Hot Cobra Speed LD F Ping G5 Ping Rapture Ping G10 Taylormade r7 Draw Taylormade Burner Taylormade r7 Titanium Taylormade r7 CGB Max Fairway Tour Edge Bazooka Geomax Honma (Too many to list, and too expensive for high cappers but very easy to hit) Hybrids (NOT in any specific order): Callaway X Hybrid Cobra Baffler DWS Ping G5 Ping Rapture Ping G10 Taylormade Rescue Dual Taylormade Burner Taylormade r7 Draw I am sure these would be enough to keep you a handful. Have fun choosing your next club.

Thanks Guys,

Will check out the long list hypergolf gave me, it will definitely be fun! A friend of mine who's handicap is 12, advised me that instead of a 3W that I just get a strong 4W 17* (since I according to him I may have difficulty hitting the 3W) and suggested the G10 fairway woods. Will try oit out tomorrow at the range.

Thanks again!

Hi 907golfer12

I got the Ping G10 15.5* fairway wood, after trying the G5, cleveland hibore, cleveland launcher, rapture, nike sq, wilson, a TM Burner and a few japanese brands. But got the best feel and results with the G10. Thought I'd have difficulty with the loft but you guys were right it wasn't a problem. Thanks!!!

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
