Our area in Central New York always ranks in the Top 5 in the US in terms of the number of public courses per capita.  That is why we market our area with the brand of "Golf Paradise"!

Not only do we have many courses, but there is a great variety in terms of difficulty, layout, and scenery. Our courses range from the 3 Championship courses at the Tuning Stone Casino and Resort to short, "user friendly" courses. Green fees for 18 holes range from $15 to $300. Annual "seasonal passes" start at $89!!!! to $2,000.

Course architects  range from recognized greats like Robert Trent Jones, Tom Fazio, Donald Ross,  Walter Travis. Geoffrey Cornish, and Devereaux Emmet (Leatherstocking in Cooperstown) to local pros (eg. Kingswood near Lake George, designed "with love and care" by owner Mike Woodberry).  The architects have had natural beauty to work with, including mountains (eg. Lake Placid), lakes (Cooperstown), rolling hills (the course near Amsterdam is even named "Rolling Hills"!), rivers, a variety of trees, including hardwoods, soft maples, and evergreens, and rocky cliffs. One course's motto sums it up "Maplecrest -------- where a scenic view welcomes you!".

Our daytime temperatures in the summer average between 70 and 78, with low humidity. We have golf academies taught by well-known pros like Ron Philo and LPGA Champion Laura Diaz.  ******"GOLF PARADISE"?----------YOU BETCHA----"Come. stay,  and play!!

That per capita star is pretty misleading when you consider all the people that must drive out from the city to play.

I agree that central New York is a beautiful part of the country most of the year (not winter).  Too bad it's in the People's Republic of New York.
