TEE'ing off at 1:28  Feb 13th at LVCC (Las Vegas Country Club).  I have comp'd round and have contacted an old navy buddy who lives in Summerlin. We are only a twosome, but if someone in the area can book their own round at the same time, you are welcome to join us. Phil doesn't play well anymore, due to health, and I am not much better, but we have not seen each other in over 30 years!  It should be fun.  Time permitting, I may try and stop by Bear's Best and say Hello to Paul Wilson (Ignition Golf).

Let us know what you think of the place.

oh, I have played there before. Nice loop. It is a private country club, but we get comps from the adjacent hotel (Westgate formerly LVH, and before that The Hilton).  You can probably get a scorecard online from "Greenskeeper" or Golf Now.

I am a member there (although I still live full time in Colorado until I can get retired) and was baiting you for an honest opinion.  Glad you like it.  Nothing flashy, straightforward parkland style golf.  Just the way I like it. Our overseed didn't go so well this year but not terrible.  Just a few spots that didn't take and with the cold winter have not really filled in very well. Greens were in great shape when I was there over MLK weekend!!  I will actually be there that weekend playing with some buddies.  Saturdays are busy in the morning. Two separate men's groups followed by the ladies at 10 or so.  Most of that will be cleared out by the time you tee off.

Look for a white private cart with a Bronco sticker on the "hood" and you will have found me.

Here is the website if you care......

http://www.lasvegascc.com/

There is a nice flyover there somewhere.  And I apologize about the smell downstairs.  We have some plumbing problems and are working hard to fix them but it's all about the money right now as is the case with a lot of privates.

Have a great round!

ha ha...thanks.  Last time I was there, there was some sort of tournament going on, and I watched from the 18th floor of LVH. I forget which hole, (maybe 8), par 3 over water alongside the road. The carry is something like 187 as I recall.  Also noted they do not accept cash at the turn, have to use credit card, or I assume the members just give their membership number and get billed.  I did enjoy it.

BTW...what became of The Desert Inn?  I should know, but having another senior moment. I was there years ago during a tournament when  Chi Chi was still playing, watched Trevino on the practice tee and also "Mr. 59".  That was probably in the 60's.  I remember Lee Trevino's caddie driving around outside the club house in his cart, saying "I am Lee, I am Lee". (damned near run me over!)

Yeah it is the back side so 17.  And the winds swirl around that hotel.  My demon hole!!!

Yeah not sure why they don't give the girls in there a bank, but member account or CC only. You can leave it open and close it on the back if you want.

Wynn has a golf course but it is not worth the $500 fee to play.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
