Yesterday i played my first round since August of last year. Courses are finally opening after winter.

For the first time in my whole life my driver was the strongest club I had in my bag. I hit ever fairway with it, and even out drove my personal best, in the cold.

However, any club more loftted than a 4 iron was a disaster. Fats, thins, shanks, tops(Like legitimately hitting the top of the golf ball and having it pop straight back up to me), you name it. Every club from my 5 to my 60°. Now I went back to the range and the same thing is happening to me, I'm shanking 60° wedges even though my 56 and 60 have always been my strongest clubs. Any time I take a full shot I hit too fat and hit a little flub shot.

Every now and then I'll hit a perfect wedge shot, or my 6 iron draw, but most of the time I'm mishitting every way known to mankind.

Im glad I can finally hit my driver well but to see me mishitting my go to clubs is.. Depressing, confusing, etc.

The range near me hosts lessons through GolfTec, and you can imagine why I don't want to go there for lessons. I considered evolvr but I can't really learn without a hands on instructor. I'm at a loss trying to figure out what to do, I went from shooting 81's to being a hacker.

That goes back your own My Swing thread and with your non-centered pivot and your head movement.

If you are all over the place with your head it makes it nearly impossible to find the low point with the irons. Driver is an easy club because it's tee'd up and because he's 460cc.

Continue to work on keeping your head more steady and it will make contact more consistent.

Well, I've been working on it and I'm way better than I was before. I uploaded another video of a wedge shot in my basement and my head is way more steady.

Its just weird that I've never had this problem before now. The only mishit I ever had was a toey strike that would go right or if I was lucky would go left.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
