The shorter the shot the greater the importance.

nicely put, it's a little more eloquent than:

short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game short game Driver short game short game short game irons short game short game short game irons short game short game short game driver short game short game short game short game short game

lol good stuff guys.

Best tip I ever heard.

The ball only knows what the clubface was when it was hit and where it was at separation and in what direction the clubhead was traveling.

Everything is kind of a moot point, the ball didn't know so why should we care? To make it look pretty?

Best tip I ever heard.

Great insight.

Since I have about 964 different golf swings and I never know which one will show up, can somebody please design a shape-shifting clubhead that hits the ball square ?

Lets talk about golf tips that help lower your golf scores. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Full swing:

I learned the 'toe up, toe up' drill years ago and still use it when I get out of sync/sequence. Take the club back until the shaft is parallel to the ground, the toe of the club should be pointing straight up. Next, swing the club forward stopping when the shaft is again parallel with the ground and the toe should be pointing up. I use this drill when warming up, sometimes hitting balls, and on the course. It's a great way to reinforce the positions you need for the "slot'. Putting: Drop a few balls about 10 feet from a hole. When you strike each putt, don't lift your head but say out loud how the putt felt, either short, long or good. Don't look up until you think the ball has reached the hole. A great drill I learned 25+ years ago for developing feel. Chipping: Look at the triangle formed by your arms and shoulders. Don't break your triangle and hit down on the ball.

Great insight.

I guess my point is whatever swing gets you the best results you can get. I know I have had days when I pulled every shot, on purpose and shot pretty close to even par. You don't need a classic swing to be a player, and you don't have to do anything "right". You just need to put the ball where you want it.

What helped me most was strengthening my mental approach through the lessons contained in a book called Going Low by Patrick Cohn .

Before reading the book, I was struggling and frustrated with my game. My scores were climbing towards 110. Afterwards, I broke 90 for the first time and later scored 84. During that period, I was streaky. If I didn't have the right mindset, the double bogeys resurfaced. Yet, if I created confidence and focus, pars (and birdies, too) abounded. Harnessing that day-in-day-out, is a path to true acheivement.
