Hello everyone. I'm a new member here and I'm looking for some help/guidance on a set of clubs once owned by my father, who passed away last year. Actually, I believe these irons were owned by his father, my grandfather, who I never met as he passed away before I was born.

Anyways, the Wilson clubs are 3-9 with what appears to be a putter. Although it doesn't look like a putter of recent years that I am familiar with. The 4 and 6 iron are stamped, "Ed "Porky" Oliver", and the remaining irons are stamped, "E.J."Dutch" Harrison". All irons have Reg. No. S6085. All irons are in fantastic condition and appear to have only been hit a few times and appear almost new condition. The grips are leather and are in great condition as well.

I'm trying to find out any information about these clubs. I've searched eBay, internet, and I can not find any clubs similar. I don't even know if they were made in the 50's or 60"s or earlier.

Can anyone help? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is the correct section to post this thread.

That is a beautiful set of irons. I would guess, judging by the grips and ferrels they are from the late 50's to early 60's.

The issue with irons that old is that shafts are "shot". I wish I had a better description than shot, but basically they don't seem to perform as well as they did. I think the consistency of shaft making at that time was not as good as it is now and therefor the performance over time is not so good.

There are sites that sell old clubs or you could take them to eBay if you wanted to sell them. Someone who buys them will likely reshaft them and may even play with them. To reshaft you will need to knock the pin out and then replace the shafts. It is quite a bit of work, but they look wonderful in bag.

Thanks, Michael. I might list them on eBay but I have no clue of their value. Guess I could start the auction and see where they end up selling.

You kinda need to get lucky with eBay. Ideally you find someone who really wants them, but likely they won't go for a whole lot. Especially since they are seemingly a mixed set.

Good luck.

Those are awesome!  I have a set of Wilson X-31 blades from the 60's.  I got them for almost nothing - maybe 50 bucks for the set in not pristine but very good condition.  As far as golf clubs go - they kind of suck, lol.  As far as nostalgia and coolness go, they can't be beat.  I keep them in in my practice area.  Someday I want to have a house with a "man cave" . .like a bar, big tv, etc.  The X-31's will feature prominently on the wall behind my bar . .when I get one, lol.

They look great ---  I would love to find a set of spalding SDX100  clubs that was the first full set I had
