New Grips - Whats the score ?

When your irons need new grips, do you just simply go out and buy 9 grips ? or do you need to get a measurement ?

I have Mizuno worn out grips and need to replace them. I do have a Lamkin Crossline on my Driver and like it very much, but Irons ??

the golf store I go to has a bin with like 30 diffrent grips. I go pick the ones I like and he puts them on.

If you like the feel of the lamikins then by all means go with them. But i just go the golf Pride new decade and i can't reccomend it enough. Its got great feel and last a long time. If you want grips that will last i suggest you stay away from Winn. They feel great but wear out very easily.

If you have to ask, you should pick the type of grip you like and have someone who knows what they're doing put them on. Grips and shafts come in different diameters and grips also have different thickness.

I was fitted about a year ago - and I don't think my hands have changed that much. I do best with a midsize grip - I like only one kind of grip - the Winn DSi and no others. I replace them only when they get worn out or lose too much of their tackiness.

But yeah, a good pro should be able to tell what size grip is best for you (although it is still partially personal preference.) Grip style is also entirely preference.

I regrip my clubs myself. Its a pain in the ass, but fun in a way. I mean, they are your little babies. You have to treat them right, take care of them. Over the years I've bought standard size grips, .58 core, and have experimented with amounts and placement of tape underneath.

I use crosslines on everything. Although I still have the original callaway grip, with reminder, on my 3 iron. ha. And the Hogan/Golf Pride tour velvet on my wedges. I like the tour velvets a lot though. I should really change my 3 iron. Crosslines are great.

I always liked the Avon Chamois grips. You know what, I'm going to get some tomorrow for my clubs. They were always known as a seniors type grip. But I liked them when I was a kid. Haven't even thought of these grips for forever. Good thread!
