The 460 because any handicap may as well take advantage of the new technology, and they don't look or feel any different anyway. They are the same weight, also. So go with the extra forgiveness.

425 - more ball flight options (4 moveable weights rather than 2 in the 460) - it's smaller - more forgiving if you have many off-centre hits - but for those who strike it with a small sweet spot there is no need for the larger clubheard.

depends on your ability and preference - for me its 425.

i'm in the process of buying one of these and due to the great deals on the 425 i was leaning towards this one. Is there a drastic difference in the two club heads as buying it online i haven't had the chance to see it. I've been to many shops but they only stock the newer superquads/burners which are slightly out of my range for my first driver.

Would this be a good choice as a first driver, i recently played golf on holiday using a Ping G5 and was hitting this consistently but this is has a 460cc club head?

There isn't a huge difference in the two club heads when you look at it while addressing it. The 460 doesn't look odd like a HiBore. The 425 is slightly smaller...and a tad rounder. Both set up nicely and nothing odd.

These would be a good choice not only as a first driver...but beyond. I have had many...and I don't let 'closeouts' rule my decision..I can buy whatever I desire. I buy based upon performance. I'm still debating on whether the 425 or 460...

I have a small dispersion amongst the clubface....so I don't need to have a huge sweetspot. But still...wouldn't we all benefit from a bigger sweetspot?

It was mentioned that the 425 is more forgiving...even with a smaller head? Could you please elaborate?

Good decision!

I have the 425 too and I could compare it with the 460 from my friend.
I prefer the 425 for several reasons...

1) more movable weights, and that is nice because you can not only decide wether you want a draw setting or neutral, you can even decide if you want a high neutral launch or a low neutral launch!

2) less air resistance! I believe I can feel that my club head speed is higher because oft that!

3) the shape looks better! And thats always a reason!

So have fun with your new driver!

I suggest you give the Taylormade Burner a try . If you slice a lot then the Burner draw would be to your liking .

i said 460 cause the extra size and forgiveness weighed more than the extra two weight ports

As I continue my quest in figuring out which one to select...one thing that is sorta concerning is that I read in a few places that they have rattling happening in the club head. Appears that the very back plug is not screwed in...but rather glued in.

Do any of the R7 460 users have any rattles in the clubhead or any other manufacturing or quality issues?

I would use the r7 460 because I hit the ball fairly straight so I don't need to switch the weights around so I would choose the 460 because of the extra length and forgivenees.

I have a R5 TP and a R7 425 TP. My opioion the 460 is a bigger version of the R5. Why not have the option of high/low trajectory and left/right trajectory then just left/right trajectory. Why do I have an R5 in the bag? More consistent for me.

Is the consistency because of periodic alterations of the weights or just pure comfort with the R7/425?

A question about the 460. I read online that a few had difficulties where the head gets a rattle. Sounds like the epoxy holding the back plug gets loose. Do any of the r7/460 owners have any of these difficulties or is this an isolated incidence?

For me the extremes are worse with the R7. I have hit some really good drives and some really bad drives. With the R5 they are really good or kind of bad.

I would say go with the 425.

I had an r7 460 9.5° with both a stiff and regular shaft and hit it too high. There is a pretty big weight in the back. My previous club was the r7 quad 10.5°, which I gave to my son (lost it in a bet). I've since replaced the 460 with a superquad, which I love.

Funny - I had a rattle for a couple of rounds; thought it was strange. But I tried the wrench on the weights and one of them was loose. Once I tightened it up the rattle went away.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
