I managed to pick up a nice used Ping Hoofer bag at a thrift store for about $15. The bag seemed perfect until I tried to walk a round with it and the metal part that stabilizes the left leg kept falling out, which makes it hardly able to stand. This lead me to believe that there may be a part missing that holds the legs in place. Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this? Duct tape does not seem to be working lol.

Thanks!

I just looked at mine, and that doesn't appear to have a lock ring or anything.  However, the "spring" on mine enters the bracket from the outside, with the free ends on either leg pointing toward each other.  It looks like yours is the other way, going from the inside of the leg.  Are those springs crossed?

Wow, when I purchased the bag the springs were crossed and I just assumed that was the correct placement of them. I feel like a complete idiot now for not thinking of that sooner but thank you so much for your help! The bag functions perfectly now.

great deal on that hoofer.  I picked up an old one too recently and have a question - is it only supposed to stand up using its legs, i.e. like a tripod, or should it also be able to stand vertically without using the legs?

Mine will only stand as tripod.

And welcome!

Most bags with legs will not stand too comfortably vertically.  They are designed to stand as tripods.  Provided the legs are working fine, use it that way

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Soft 500 golf ball
