has anyone had any experience with these practice balls, and if so, what were your thoughts on them? Dave pelz recomends them, so they must be pretty good.

Remember, Dave Pelz SELLS these balls. He's got a very real financial stake in them. So of course he's gonna say they're God's Gift to Golfers.

Nonetheless, I purchased a 10-pack last year to see if they were any better than generic plastic shells for knocking around my backyard. And...they really are very good. They're more dense than any other practice ball I've tried, so you actually get some feedback on hits. They're tough, too. And yeah, you can wallop them into your house window and you'll still have a window (voice of experience on that one, trust me).

Just realize that, as advertised, they fly 1/3 the distance of a real ball. This may not sound like much, but if you hit your 7-iron 150 yards, that means the P-3 is gonna go 50 yards. In a suburban backyard, that could mean it ends up three lawns over from yours. Some people may have to use them just for wedge practice, if their lawn doesn't front an open field.

They're only a few bucks for a small box. You should give 'em a try and see what you think. Good luck!

(Has anyone tried the Birdie Ball, by any chance? That's one I'm curious about myself.)

Bag It:

Hybrid: Wishon "321", 24*, MSF 85 HB, Winn DSI

Bag: Some big, honkin', ridiculous overkill of an Ogio cart bag with more pockets than I have teeth.

I would second everything Sherpat says here. I bought one of the shag tubes in June, and I really like these things. In my experience, they provide excellent feedback off the face of the club, and the ball flight, in terms of both trajectory and direction, is true. I have also drilled a window (a church window, actually!), and it did not break. And you do need some space if you're planning on hitting anything more than a wedge; 1/3 the yardage of a regular shot is a deceptively long distance.
