I am about to purchase the srixon 765 irons and because I get them through work for almost cost I'm not going through a certified fitter, srixon offers free shaft upgrade and come with modus3 tour 120 as standard shaft, my real decision is based on the project x 5.5 or nippon ns pro 950. If you guys have any preference or even a different shaft that'd be good too. I am looking to keep the ball lower but don't want to lower spin rates too much.

For starters...

  • Dynamic Gold S300 and X100 are also stock shafts for the Z765 irons
  • Nippon makes both the Modus 3 Tour 120 and the NS Pro 950 shafts.

Now, this chart compares the three shafts you are considering:

For distance, the 4 in the MPF of all three suggests a person who Z765i.jpghits an 8i 150 yards or so, and has about 100 mph CHS on driver. The Modus and 950 have medium to high trajectory, while PX has lower trajectory. Modus and PX have low launches, while 95 has medium launch. All three have Hook control.

The PX 5.5 is rather stiff, comparatively stiffer than the DG S300. The PX will be "harder to handle" than the 950. The two are likely would feel quite different.

For my X20 Tours, I reshafted from PX 5.0 (a very firm "R" flex) to the lighter and less stiff NS Pro 8950GH R-flex (a slightly higher launch than the 950, but otherwise the same).

In your situation, I would advise you to go to a shop and pay for a fitting on the Z765. Then, use this data to purchase your lower-cost option. If you order the Z765 to your specs, with the shaft you want, it shouldn't cost much more than off the rack clubs. At a 13 HDCP, you would be best served by custom fit irons.

(Good eye by you! Those Z765 irons really look good...)
