Is the C3i wedge any different than XE1?

I saw the ad at the bottom of my browser screen for a new offering. Laboriously reading through all the hype it sounded very familiar not to mention looks almost identical to the other except for the stark graphics and paint. Same words, same accolades, same referencing to online videos. Then at the very bottom, in very fine print support@golftailor.com   I really cannot say anything about the value, or playability, having not tried, but if is anything like the other, others have said it to be a one trick pony.  But, that's just marketing and is to be expected, I suppose.  I do like the looks of it though.

Interesting enough that I did indeed receive a reply from the sellers of these clubs. I received an email indicting that there was a reply from them in THIS thread, but it does not appear anywhere. I have to assume that it was deleted by the mods. If, so, glad they did, as it was more in the vane of unsolicited advertising and I now have to apologize  that it was me that provided an avenue for it.  At least the basic query was answered.  Same club - improved? version.

C3i = XE1?  Somebody help!  It looks like C3i/X = E...but I've never been conversant in math.

I the only difference is that the C3i has conforming grooves. The XE1 did not.

their reply that went to my in box addressed several "changes" according to them, but was very  "commercial" and "hype" (not surprizing, though, after all it IS marketing). The black finish probably wouldn't last too long in the sand. I don't know if it is anodized or paint.

Although I have a lot of concerns regarding these clubs, I might entertain ordering the XE1 as they are offering two wedges for the price of one.  The newest revision C3i is appealing but if I can get two, it might be worth it to experiment.  I use my current wedges fairly well, but occasionally have difficulty in the sand, usually in carrying too far, realizing it is on me, however.

I believe that one time, the earlier versions may have been non-conforming, but was corrected later on. When I querried the OEM on the differences, they had told me of the improvements made to the C3i that were not present in the XE1. There was no mention of conformity nor did I ask.

That too was a rumor.....it was a groove issue. In fact, the original version (V1) was also conforming.

      I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
