Spin on wedge shots

This winter i am going to really concentrate on 100yds and in. I want to be able to controll the ball more with 1/2 and 3/4 wedge shots. I also want to be able to rely on my full sand wedge for 100-110 yds. I am looking for tips on how to practice generating spin. It would be awesome if you guys have any suggestions.

What wedges and golf balls do you use? Also, to spin the ball a lot, you need a quite sharp angle of attack off a good lie, generally in the fairway :D.

You need a sharp decending blow into the the ball, usually taking a fairly large divot after impact. Along with that premium golf balls such as a Pro V1 with a good wedge that has sharp grooves generate a lot more spin using that technique.

Well, in talking with some of my dad's golf buddies they told me that older wedges give you less spin. Ive had my set of vokeys for about 7 years now and i really need to replace them. When i do they will be the spin milled vokeys, porbably 52 56 60? Do i need all 3? Right now i am in love with the nxt tour golf ball. I am a pro v1 guy at heart, but im in college... and im not made of moo-lah.

you have to trap the ball between the club face and the ground
easier to do when you place your ball back in your stance (inside of your right heel if you are right handed)
your divot has start under the ball or foward of the ball
multi-layer balls and wedges with sharp groove help as well.

Spin is down to the angle at which the ball hits the turf, how receptive the turf is, the quality of the strike, the ball you are using, the quality of the grooves and your club head speed, having a steep swing is not necessary at all.

A shallow swing, with a fair amount of club head speed, a very good strike and a high spin ball will provide ample spin, you wouldn't want more than 3 - 5 foot of spin anyway, focusing on a steep swing will only cause you to hit inconsistent shots.

In terms of the wedges your using I would suggest a 52 and a 58 degree combination, you do not need all three wedges (52, 56, 60) as it a waste of the fourteen club limit in your bag.

At the moment I am using the Callaway HX Tour 56 ball and it spins more than any other ball I have used.
