I have a solid iron game, but I never have a chance to use it because my drives are so far off line they are either OB, or 20 yards right or left of the fairway.

I try to curve the ball on command, but I can't  control it. When I try to hit the ball straight, normally it will only go straight around 50% of the time. Otherwise it slices like hell into the right rough  20 yards offline.

In general,  I prefer the fade. But when I  aim left, it either goes  straight left, or push fades instead of starting left and curving right. This results in high yardage misses.

I'd like to start the ball left, and fade it back into the fairway consistently, but I'm not sure how. Ive hit that shot a few times before, and it's beautiful to watch, the ball starts  at the left edge of the fairway and fades back at the apex of the flight.

I normally carry the ball 245 yards, and with a fairway hit i can get the rollout to 270.

I normally set up square left, and try to hold the face off. But sometimes I think my grip strengthens and I either pull it, draw it, or slice the hell out of it, or push fade because my swing plane is way from the inside when I get tired of hitting it left. So I  naturally hold the face off which also locks my left wrist and causes the plane to go in to out.

Is there a better way to fade the ball off the left edge of the fairway so I can hit it more often?

Nevermind, I figured it out.

I mostly set up to my driver with my right shoulder really low, which hurts my back. It also causes an upward hit on the ball about 7 degrees. My path is always out to the right because my shoulders are closed at impact, and  my hands hold off the face because if  I were to release them I'd  hit a snap hook.

Now I stand more upright, which I did back in the first tee, and the ball goes literally dead straight.

My ball flight has also lowered, and I've gained distance.

I just raised mine and gained distance.

    • I’m thinking maybe Jason Day read my post. He’s sitting a -3 two off Rory and Burns.
    • Is it only the weekend broadcasts that have a low commercial count?  I feel like it has been a long while since I last watched a Thursday of the Masters, so maybe my recollection is off.  I feel today has a lot more than four minutes per hour of commercials, and far fewer of the fun stories they tell during the Sunday broadcast.
    • I mean, I do slide my hips like 7 inches towards the target before impact. PGA Tour average is like 3 inches. I’m not Scottie Scheffler who can get away with it. 🤣 He slides a ton.  For me, I have to feel like I basically just turn. Though, I’m probably over exaggerating a bit with that one video because I’m really trying to push off with the left leg which sends the hip backwards. Ideally, I would be able to get my weight over to the outside of my left foot at impact and into the finish. It’s probably OK that I can slide about 7 inches as long as it’s like only three by impact.
    • Day 32 (9 Apr 26) - Grandson is on spring break- puts in to play 9 at our home course.  Used it to work on top of horizon target point for drives and approaches…i.e. pick landing zone (fairway, green) , an intermediate target point and finally what standout feature do I want to hit “over” on the horizon (tall pine, home top, flag pole).    Better l-r dispersion w/5 of 7 drives in the short grass.  Nice little addition to the pre-shot routine.
    • I managed to get the full afternoon to watch (Pacific time, so the ESPN broadcast began at noon).  I just saw the first shot I feel like commenting on:  Adam Scott's tee shot on #16 was really good, especially after having what might be the worst kind of Maltese Falcon on #15.    I didn't used to like him, but the past few years he's grown on me quite a bit.
