Forgiving irons with a sharp blade

Hey guys,

What irons would you consider really forgiving in the long irons that have a sharp sole on it. I don't like rounded, clunky soles. I need sharp soles. My Mp-33s are getting harder to hit consistently in the long irons and I am looking to replaces those irons with something more forgiving.

Hey guys,

My first thought is a forged cavity back like a Hogan. Traditional contours all around. I wouldn't look in a pro's bag for guidance. Some of those guys have the leading edge honed to a knife blade. I know the divot I cut with that is going to be about a foot deep.

I've had my 735's for about a week....no complaints here. I'm not one for thick soles and the like either, part of the reason I hate clubs like Ping's and the like.

The sole on the 735's is fairly thin, and the 8-PW are full MB's. With the lower irons, the sole is caparatively thin too, about half a MB's mixed with half of a CB iron. The top of the head is a little thicker than my old TM 200's, but it's a good tradeoff for what I get at the bottom. That's one of the things I really noticed, I come come off really steep or really shallow depending on the lie, and club will keep going no matter which.

I play mp33 irons and only hit 5-pw and replaced my 4 iron with a hybrid from Cleveland and never looked back. I hit the hybrid high and so easy to hit. Yesterday, I played Sharp Park, Pacifica, Ca and on the 16th hole I was 180 yards away uphill into the wind and hit within 10 feet and made the putt for birdie.

Hybrid is the way to go!

I actually prefer long irons over most hybrids. I have a hard time controlling hybrids for some reason...even though I hit one in place of my 3 iron.

I was thinking about switching irons all together to a combo set such as the Bridgestone J33 Combos. Or, maybe going to a more forgiving type "blade" such as the Callaway X Tours...any suggestions?

If you hit your mp33 irons I would compliment the longer irons with Mizuno brand irons

I tried the callaway x18 irons and they are easy to hit but with no feel.

My suggestion would be the 2005 Nike Forged ProCombo Irons... Great Clubs sharp sole... forgiving... somewhat weak lofts...
