I saw a commercial the other day for the Callaway GolFit and it had me interested.  So after browsing around all day yesterday I ended up stuck between that and the Garmin Approach X40.

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with either unit.  It would be neat to tie in the fitness and GPS into one watch device.

Both look sleek and don't appear to get in the way when golfing.

The Garmin has a few more features and is on sale for $199.  The Callaway is $149.  Looking like it might be an after Xmas present for myself!

I would go with Garmin.  They are GPS experts.  I have two Garmin GPS devices handheld and watch.  I have had Callaway and Skycaddie, I prefer Garmin by far.  The hardware is better.

So I got the Approach X40.  So far looks pretty good but it will be a while before I can test it out on the course.  Have the apps on the phone all ready.  Will test it out for fitness, weather, heartbeat and sleep to see how those do.

I would totally recommend the X40 to anyone looking for a watch/golf GPS/activity tracker/heart monitor all in one unit.  If you only want the Golf GPS, they have just that in a different model, the X10.  The S series have a much bigger face and as I played with two guys last week that had them, we compared yardages and were totally spot on all day.  They both wished they had my watch as they liked the smaller more compact look.

It worked like a charm at all the places I played in Myrtle Beach and had no problems with the 3 courses I have played back home so far.

I have turned off score card as I like to keep it on the actual score card as it didn't have entries for multiple people and if you forget to mark a hole, you can get backed up.

I had club tracking on for a few times but turned that off as you always have to tap a club or it messes you up.

Front, back and middle are always on the screen and with a tap you are on the green and can move the flag to F,B or M.  I just recently found the hazard feature and that is the best option on the unit!  Front and back of all the hazards on the hole with a few taps of numbers on the screen.  I have shot them with my range finder and they are pretty much spot on.

I don't think I will sell my range finder just yet.... good to have both because ya just never know.  What one is better you might ask... I will say they both have really good features so it depends on what you need for info, how shaky you are and do you want all the other features the watch has over the rangefinder.
