Day 603, June 28, 2024

Played 18 holes this morning. Happy with how I played. Took my time and for the most part, just exaggerated what I was trying to do.

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

Day 77:

Worked on priority piece with 6-iron. Did about 20 minutes of slow, half swings. Then got out Mevo+ and tried to go full speed for a bit, with mixed results.

Day 58 (29 Jun 24) a little backyard fun with the grandson as we had a little chipping challenge rules were simple: club of choice (new club every three holes); soft foam balls mandatory.  I stuck w/scoring irons (8-PW) while he went with long clubs (5h-3w-D).  It’s fun seeing him unafraid to step outside the box…good afternoon of working the basics of swing mechanics.

Day 21:  Had an hour long lesson focused on the big body moves and added moving my hips before my arms come down.

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

Day 605, June 30, 2024

Practiced for an hour after a GEARS lesson. Used the QuadMAX, exaggerated the bejeezus out of some things… Every shot was hit with a rightward path, etc.

Day 79:

Played 18 at a different local course than I usually play. Drove the ball well. Greens were soft and spongy, maybe a different type of grass than my home course and most other courses in the area, and I didn't fully adjust. Also the rough was a different type of grass, and the ball sat much more up, so I hit a bunch of shots out of the rough high on the face.

Day 59 (30 Jun 24) - - 1/2 swing Sunday w/7i…Right knee a little tender, so just did some punchy iron shots using the hard foam balls.  Focused really getting core rotation.  Hit about 20 shots total - 1/2 from flat lie, 1/2 from varied lie (above feet, below feet, taller grass, etc).

    • Another  driving range session. Got to keep the iron swing shorter. Not as much wrist twist as I think I need. If I over swinging I get into bad patterns of shallow with the body. Swing life is still a major key cannot neglect. Driver is much better. The feel of staying in my tilt and swinging down and left extending the arms is producing slight pulls to pull cuts.
    • I don’t usually make practice strokes but when I do it’s always a practice stroke for the distance that I want to hit, similar to how I do for practice swings for short game shots.
    • Missed this one..  The closer you are to the green is always better because of strokes gained unless the hole didn't let you hit Driver for obvious reasons.  With driver if you can carry the trees on the left and stay shot of the greenside bunker its the right call, but because of what you said this is not the right club.  With 3 wood you have plenty of room (60 yards playable with 50 yards of dispersion for the club).  You are only challenging a small bunker and you are leaving yourself 70 yards to the hole. Dropping back to 3 iron avoid the brown bunker but put another bunker in play so no gain there and all your shots are now 20 yards longer. Not a good trade. Last option, lay back to 4 iron were practically all your shots are going to be in play but you are going to play all of them from 120.  For me is a 3 wood all day long.
    • I suggest you read the Model Local Rule to understand better.  The MLR is in effect only if the Committee chooses so.  The rule should be worded to identify which specific areas are impacted.  It could be a simple description, it could identify specific painted areas, certain holes,  there are a number of ways the Committee can define where "root relief" is available.
