Day 6:

Played 18, solid round until I tripled  #13 and doubled  #14, but recovered to par out on the way in with 4 straight GIR with very makeable birdie putts.

@DaHolla I hope to get to full swing one day.  I'm told I am just doing under half swing, when I try full swing I just hit the ground and miss the ball and look silly.

Day 224: 8/3/24

Slow motion swings with a hybrid followed by distance control putting through 50 mm gates. No gates hit, but only took 20 putts, far short of my normal 51.

Day 93 (3 Aug 24) - Late afternoon session with 8i and hard foam balls - focused on the setup, especially the grip.  Noticed more of a push in shots lately.  First few shots where heavy, got settled and by end of session much better contact and shot shape.  Love these return to basics type drills.

Day 9:  Played 9 and beat my best by 6!  44 on a par 33, not bad for about 4 months of playing.

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

Day 225: 8/4/24

Range work in preparation for a tournament this weekend in which my partner and I are two-time defending champions. Been battling tennis elbow and shanked way too many this afternoon. Finished with putting practice and putted well for me.

Day 10:  Had an hour long practice playing three holes.  Got some good pointers and practice using my 3w and 5h.  I was then able to finish the rest of the front nine but I didn’t keep score.

Day 8:

Played 18 this morning. Left my Shotscope at home which made me feel naked the entire round. Swing thought is entirely on backswing piece right now, and I think I executed that part well for the entire round. Downswing piece needs a bunch of work.

Front 9 was in a damp, pea-soup fog with maybe 80-100 yards of visibility. Finished the front with a 44. Didn't hit the ball well, but not terrible either. A few bad swings were very costly (three double bogeys).

Back 9 with fog finally clearing was better. Finished with a double-bogey free 40. Score would have been better if I had made a few of the 6-8 foot putts I left myself (but I didn't).

Day 208 - Got back to my priority piece, focusing on setup and shin angles in the swing. Used the divot board and was consistently 1-2 inches behind the ball, which needs some work.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
