Has anyone out there done a FULL golf club fitting… I’m talking Driver thru putter?  I’m interested in doing one of those this year my clubs (Nike VR Split Cavity) are old (8ish years I believe), too short for me and I just snapped the head off my 4 iron and came to realize that they are all rusted where the shaft meets the hosel so it seems like its only a matter of time until they all break off which is really disappointing because I love these irons and have take EXCELLENT care of them.  I’ve seen videos of people doing this with Taylormade or Titleist, I’m not limiting myself to those brands those are just the ones I’ve seen.  I know Dicks offers that kind of service, but I’d really love to do something outside off real grass not a driving range matt.  I live in Central PA so going all the way out to “The Kingdom” in Caralsbad isn’t really something I can do but I would drive a little ways for a nice fitting that's worth while.  Also, what are we looking at in terms of price for this FULL fitting.  I understand it is different depending on what clubs you get and shafts ect… but I’m just looking for a fairly general number just so I know what I’m going to be getting into.  I  like to think of myself as a "good" golfer whose handicap is 6 and who hits the ball further than average.  I'd ideally like to get some sort of blade style iron not the super blades the pros play but something along the lines of what I have now or like the P790's   I'd like to stay in the $2-3K range if at all possible

Thanks In Advance!!

Thomas

The owner of this site @iacas has an indoor facility in Erie, PA and I think they do wedge and putter fittings there, not sure if they fit irons and woods there or not.

For pricing, I think $3k is going to be about as low as you could go and still get brand new current model year stuff, especially if you need a new bag too:

Driver ~ $500

3 wood ~ $250

Hybrid/3iron ~$200

Irons 4-PW ~$1000+

Wedges GW, SW, LW  ~ $150

Putter ~ $100+

Bag ~$150+

$2650 right there before taxes and any fitting fees (although some places will throw in the fitting for free if you buy clubs from them)

I like the P790's as well, but I dont consider them to be a blade style iron. Have you looked at the P750 or the P770 yet? I hit the P790 and the P770 for aprox 5 swings each, so not a big sample size but out of those 5 swings, I thought the P770 felt much better than the P790 and I had a tighter grouping in overall distance and lateral dispersion with the P770.

Hope that helped! Let us know what you end up choosing!

I’m in central pa and looking at getting new clubs and have been reccomended to blair county golf and driving range. That got an indoor hitting area and right outside a driving range. Stopped in once looking for a used 1 iron and they hooked me up. As soon as a do a little more research I’m heading down to test some clubs. And from what the guy that reccomended me to them said I think they throw in the fitting for free if you buy clubs off them

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
