I have a horrible time with balance in my golf swing.  I'm constantly falling out of it or falling back out of my swing and I'm sure it's my balance that is off.  I'm also sure that my "swinging for the fences" mentality isn't helping either.  It is most noticeable when swinging with my driver but even down to my wedges I notice its incredibly hard for me to balance and hold that nice pose through my finish swing.  Does anyone have any good balance exercises to do to help resolve this problem?

Thanks

Thomas

One legged squats are good in general for balance, but really any type of exercise where you have to hold a static position (in this case your legs) are a good start. As you get better you can introduce some other variables. I know you requested exercises, but I do recommend the following, as it could be something about your swing causing the issue:

Squats on a Bosu ball help me tremendously with both balance and core strength. I should really do more of them.

    • Welp, 2025 has started off great (sarcasm).  Lingering cough since Jan. 3rd-ish. Now, I was bowling in a tournament this morning, and felt like two cracks / pops in my back near my hip.  Luckily not sudden pain or what not, but my lower back is not happy. It was the weirdest sensation, and  then not feeling the pain I thought would happen. Still, I think I hurt my back in some way. Going into rehab mode now. 😹
    • I had to get my left labrum reconstructed after my second major dislocation a few years back. Recovery for me was 5 months until I could swing. I played at 6 months though infrequently. Maybe 8-9 months didn't feel dicey. Then I had winter and the next season... Wow. I hadn't known how much worse my mechanics were than they could be because I was subconsciously tightening my front should to protect it. Even before the second dislocation it was loose and sloppy. Who knew tightening up and good golf mechanics didn't go great together 😀 I don't know what surgery you're getting, but maybe a potential bright spot for you?
