I have a taylormade rescue mid 16 degree steel shaft hybrid. I wished i would have got the 19 degree. Can i get it bend 2 degrees if possible by my local clubmaker. Thanks

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Heck, they don't cost that much now. Why don't ya just buy another?

If I were the local clubmaker, I wouldn't do it. Or is you insisted, I would make sure that you understood that there is zero guarantee, because the chances of breaking are just too great.

They do it for the pros in the tour vans because they have basically an unlimited supply. If the 1st one breaks, they just try to bend a second and so on. If you wanted it bent, you take an awfully high risk. Now, can someone who is more of a clubmaker expert than I tell me if something like this http://www.myostrichgolf.com/clubmak...oducts_id=1449 would work? I really don't know, because I have no experience with them at all, but if it does, it looks a lot safer than bending!

I was wondering because i got my 54 degree Vokey RAW bent to 56 and it was soo simple. The clubmaker took a couple seconds in bending it. I mean i am wondering why it will be harder to get a hybrid bent-i mean its only 2 degrees--2 degrees isnt much but i have to also tell you guys that I have a Steel shaft in my taylormade rescue mid--i definately wouldnt try it in a graphite-it would break like a baseball bat over Jose Cansecos leg.

I have never even heard of bending anything but putters and wedges.

i guess (?) because of their solid composition and structure. it appears that wedges and putter are more solid.

are hybrids hollow - like drivers? part of a woods design is the way it's built - it's structural design and aerodynamics are all measured to an exact point. Wedges are more like a chunk of metal at the end of a stick which sometimes can be manipulated.

The club manufacturers offer a wide range of clubs - that sounds like an old version of the rescue club - they've come on since then. Why not try eBay for a 19*?

hawkeye has it right. Almost all of the hybrids I've seen are hollow, we have a Nickent 4DX that has a top cut out so that you can see how thin the top is but also the hollow nature of the head. Combine the hollow clubhead with a casting process that makes it very brittle, bad combination for bending. That's why forged irons can be bent pretty easily 3-4 degrees and cast irons can break even trying to be bent 1-2 degrees. The older Cleveland CG irons, the ones made of the CMM process are locked very rigidly into place, that's why most people will not try to bend the older CG10 and CG11 wedges. They are very brittle and snap almost instantly when trying to be bent.

Most hybrids can be bent if the machine can handle the shorter hosel most have. To bend one without breaking it you would probably need to heat it first. This can weaken the club of course, so it is important to heat the minimum amount possible.

Like has been said above, the hollow construction and casting process makes the typical hybrid, fairway wood, driver very, very different than a wedge or iron.

Also like I said above, the tour vans at the PGA TOUR events bend for the pros, but that is because they don't care if they break one head, they just pull another out of the box. I've heard reports that say that the tour vans only successfully bend drivers/fairway woods somewhere around 10% of the time. Like I wrote above, if I were the clubmaker bending it, I would make sure that you knew 100% that there is no guarantee -- that there is a very good chance it will break. That is, if you could even find one who would be willing to do it. The risk of breakage is very, very high.

I have a question like this
Is it possible for me to de-loft my D1 to 9.5 (1* lower), or will this break it or reduce the performance?
Otherwise I will just get a used 905R.

    • Day 167 - 2025-03-16 Hit balls after a long day. Junior Elite and a few lessons. Meh.
    • It kinda is… and Tiger isn't super young anymore. You're missing the fact that Tiger changed the game. Golfers put far more strain and stress on their bodies now than they did fifty freaking years ago. The sport is different now. It's faster, and you have to be significantly better now to even make it to the PGA Tour let alone stay there than you did in Jack's day.
    • Well, at least it got fixed & you’ll be back nonetheless.
    • Day 5 March 16th, 2025 Went to the range for about an hour. Worked on backswing and downswing piece. Finally got to making shorter backswings. Feeling like the swing stops when hips get to hip height. That is more of a feeling for how much the hands move, the hands get closer to A3-A3.5.
    • Seems like Jack was pretty "old" when he won his last Masters. And Gary Player is still playing, despite being a fitness freak all his life. Years ago, Cary Middlecoff stated that Tiger was going to have back problems after he reached the age of 30, due to the body torque he used in his swing. But Tiger has also had plenty of issues with the rest of his body. And the car crash certainly didn't help. Has any golfer been as "injury prone" as Tiger?
