Cleveland Classic 2

Just picked up a cheap like new Cleveland Classic 2 putter. Anyone have any experience with one? And also does a regular blade head over fit them?

Yes - you shouldn't have any trouble getting a typical blade style headcover to fit this putter.

All of the putters I am familiar with of this shape/profile (Odyssey #9, W/S Infinite Grant Park, etc.) come with a traditional blade headcover anyway.

I love that style of putter and I think Cleveland putters are very underrated. $25 is a steal. Great Find!

Excellent, that’s what I was hoping to hear. I’m planning on practicing with it tonight. Just on carpet though, it feels solid to hit. Nice sound and feels great! 

 

Just dont try telling a SC owner they fee good, they’ll crucify you for it!

I'm sure it does sound and feel great.

I love the feel of my W/S 8885 and have tested and been eyeing some Cleveland putters as well for the same reason.

There are options out there other than pricey Scotty's for people who prefer a putter without an insert.

I have mixed feeing on insert putters. 

 

I have a 2 ball Odyssey SRT that I liked but just CANNOT get used to the dead feel of. I figured I’d switch it up and so far so good. Blades feel a little light so maybe a half mallet is what I’m after.

I have an Odyssey #1 and TaylorMade Ghost Blade Putters and I'm the same way. I just can't get a feel with the inserts.

No good for me.

If you're going to buy an after-market headcover, I recommend a magnetic closure -not- velcro. Just my preference.

I cant stand putters with inserts.  My first one must of had the glue soften or come loose and on a good stroke you would hear a pop and it felt really weird. 

Went out and found a Ping Anser and solid is the only way for me.  Matter of fact, all my putters are Pings.  Anser, Anser 2, Anser Ti4, B60 Copper and B60 Nickle.

I picked up an Anser 3 at the same time as the Cleveland. I like it, but it feels a bit light for my taste.

I have an old-school Ping Anser 2 that I plan to clean up and re-grip. It should be a great back-up putter.

I would LOVE to get my hands on a newer model one of these days.

I think you will like it with a new grip and cleaned up and maybe move it up to first string for a round or two.

I just looked up your 8885 putter and that look heavy!

How does it feel?

They have a ton of Ansers out there in many shapes with different fronts and whatnot.  Google it sometime and go wow!  So many choices!!

Your new Cleveland is nice and it looks to be way heaver than a classic Anser model.  Not sure I would like the milled face....  never tried one but it looks odd/different to me.  Let us know how it does out on the greens.

It's pretty heavy, yeah. Definitely a lot heavier than your Anser, I'm sure.

For me, I feel like I have more control of the putter head when I can feel the weight of it.

Maybe it's all in my head.

As far as feedback - It's great. Love the feel of the ball off the face. It's solid.

Thanks for the info and I am glad it works well for you.  I like the color too.  They have some nice looking putters in the 888X series.

I have tendencies to really slam the ball with a heavier putter that's why I like them on the light side but as we all know you gotta like the look and feel of what you are playing!  (well it helps a lot)
